This opportunity is located within our Ensign-Bickford Aerospace & Defense Company business, a global leader of mission-critical hardware and systems solutions including precision energetics systems and innovative explosive solutions. Job Description EBAD is seeking a skilled Automation Controls Engineer to join our team in Simsbury, CT. This individual will report directly to the Facilities Manager and will be responsible for the design, testing, and troubleshooting of various electromechanical systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, pneumatics and PLC controls. Responsibilities: * Installing, troubleshooting, performing preventive maintenance on complex equipment * Diagnosing problems and making necessary repairs/adjustments * Designing, modifying and testing equipment and PLC programs to ensure systems operate correctly to full efficiency * Consulting with Facilities Engineering Manager and others on component and system development * Maintain proper documentation as required * Follow all safety requirements per EBAD standards including OSHA , Lock out tag out, etc. Typical duties: * Install, maintain, and repair electrical and mechanical systems throughout the manufacturing facility * Reading and interpreting mechanical blueprints, schematic diagrams, electrical wiring diagrams and PLC ladder logic * Design, layout and wire electrical panels per customer specifications * Conducting regular maintenance schedules to prevent system failures and downtime * Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair critical electromechanical components and associated software issues * Set up and configure various control instruments and equipment per manufacturer specifications * Provide technical support and expertise to other departments as needed * Collaborate with team members to optimize system performance based on data, personal observations and feedback * Update and modify system software programs to ensure operational integrity Requirements: * Associates degree or equivalent in electromechanical technology, industrial maintenance or related field * Proficiency in electronic testing equipment and hand tools * Solid understanding of mechanical and electrical including electronic systems and components * Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail with good observation skills * Ability to read, design and modify PLC & HMI programs using Allen Bradley, GE Fanuc, Mitsubishi, Automation Direct and various other software platforms * Excellent communication and organizational skills * Proficient using Microsoft Office Ensign-Bickford Aerospace & Defense Company is an Equal Opportunity Employer (EOE).
