Technical Program Manager LOCATION: Albuquerque, NM (Kirtland AFB) JOB STATUS: Full-time CLEARANCE: DoD Secret clearance w/ TS/SCI eligibility CERTIFICATION: PMP or equivalent preferred TRAVEL: 15% Astrion is seeking a Technical Program Manager to support satellite development and integration at the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Space Vehicles Directorate. This role will function as a task lead/project manager and is ideal for a technically grounded professional with a background in engineering and strong project/program management capabilities. The position is primarily an individual contributor role with potential for team leadership depending on the candidate's experience and growth trajectory. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS 
 - U.S. Citizenship required  
 
 
 - DoD Secret clearance w/ TS/SCI eligibility  
 
 
 - Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field 
 
 
 - Minimum 5 years of professional experience in an engineering discipline 
 
 
 - At least 3 years of experience in project/program management, preferably in a research, aerospace, defense, or advanced energy technology environment 
 
 
 - Strong understanding of technical program lifecycles 
 
 
 - Experience managing cost, schedule, performance, and risk on an engineering program 
 
 
 - Comfortable managing task timelines, deliverables, and coordination across multi-disciplinary technical teams 
 
 
 - Must be flexible in adapting to evolving project needs, tight deadlines, and shifting priorities 
 
 
 - Able to communicate clearly with both technical personnel and non-technical stakeholders 
 
 
 - Excellent time management and organizational skills 
 
 
 - Self-motivated and capable of independent problem solving 
 
 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS 
 - Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering 
 
 
 - Master's degree in Engineering, Systems Engineering, Physics, or related technical field 
 
 
 - Project Management Professional (PMP) certification 
 
 
 - Experience working with Department of Defense or Government programs 
 
 
 - Familiarity with nuclear power systems, space systems engineering, or advanced energy technologies 
 
 
 - Prior experience supporting research and development (R&D) or technology demonstration efforts 
 
 
 - Strong customer relationship and stakeholder management skills 
 
 
RESPONSIBILITIES 
 - Coordinate project activities, including planning, tracking, documentation, reporting, and risk management 
 
 
 - Support technical leads and researchers in defining and aligning program deliverables with contract requirements and AFRL goals 
 
 
 - Facilitate regular communications with AFRL customers, engineering teams, and subcontractors 
 
 
 - Monitor program schedule and milestones; identify issues and recommend solutions 
 
 
 - Prepare and deliver high-quality documentation and presentations for internal and government audiences 
 
 
 - Ensure timely submission of technical deliverables and project reports 
 
 
 - Track budget execution and program resources in collaboration with the program manager 
 
 
 - Potential to assume supervisory responsibilities based on candidate performance and program growth
