  Under the supervision of the Manager, Emergency Services and the Clinical Coordinator/Chief paramedic. the L+M Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is responsible for providing safe ambulance transportation and patient care for patients.

 Responsibilities 
 
 
 - 1. Establishes a professional rapport with patients and staff.
 - 2. Collaborates with other pre-hospital team members to assure that appropriate level of treatment is performed.
 - 3. Transfer patients to the emergency department of a hospital or other healthcare facility.
 - 4. Respond to 911 calls for emergency medical assistance.
 - 5. Report their observations and treatment to physicians, nurses, or other healthcare facility staff.
 - 6. Document medical care given to patients.
 - 7. Acts as a role model in area of expertise and professional practice by being self-directed, self-motivated, maintaining expertise and promoting the emergency medical services system.
 - 8. Facilitates and models development of critical thinking, problem solving and communications skills among the students.
 - 9. Maintains current knowledge of relevant issues, trends, and practices in the area of emergency medical services.
 - 10. Promotes professional self-development
 - 11. Assess a patient?s condition and determine a course of treatment.
 - 12. Provide first-aid treatment or life support care to sick or injured patients
 - 13. Supports leadership in ensuring that excellent customer service standards are met.
 - 14. Reinforces behaviors consistent with customer service standards.
 - 15. Transport patients safely in an ambulance.
 - 16. Operates an emergency vehicle in a safe manner consistent with YNHHS policies.
 - 17. Adheres to all applicable state EMS protocols, sponsor hospital guidelines, and YNHHS policies and procedures.
 - 18. Constructs a personal development plan based on self-evaluation and peer review.
 - 19. Inventory, replace, and clean supplies and equipment after use
 - 20. Assists in the care and maintenance of equipment.
 
  
 
Qualifications
 
 
EDUCATION EMS certification/licensure at the EMT level, other health care licensure /certification, or other subject matter expertise in the area of healthcare, public safety, EMS, or education is preferred EXPERIENCE Pre-hospital experience, other healthcare experience, or other needed area of expertise experience strongly encouraged. Must maintain certification as a CT and RI EMT LICENSURE State of CT EMT Certification required, EMS certification/licensure at or above the EMT level in RI is preferred at hire or must be obtained in the first 6 month of employment, other health care licensure/certification desirable, Current AHA BCLS is required.
