Position Description

The Department of Kinesiology & Sport Management in the College of Arts & Sciences at Texas Tech University invites applications for a full-time, 9-month, tenured/tenure-track position to begin September 1, 2026. This position is for a tenure-track open rank in metabolic and/or neurological diseases (obesity, cardiometabolic diseases, age-related diseases) with expertise in dietary (dietary patterns, bioactive compounds, precision nutrition) and/or exercise interventions and the impact of these interventions related to nutrigenomics and the microbiome. Major/Essential Functions

In line with TTU's strategic priorities to engage and empower a diverse student body, enable innovative research and creative activities, and transform lives and communities through outreach and engaged scholarship, applicants should have experience working with diverse student populations at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels within individual or across the areas of teaching, research/creative activity, and service.

As a faculty member in the Department of Kinesiology & Sport Management, you will be expected to:

  • Contribute to the teaching mission of the department.
  • Mentor graduate students.
  • Develop a record of peer-reviewed/funded research.
  • Provide service to the department, college, and university.

Faculty Qualifications


  • An earned (no later than August 31, 2026) doctoral degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Nutrition, or a relevant health or biomedical area.
  • Knowledge and skills to analyze metabolites (metabolomics), and/or intestinal physiology.
  • Demonstrated ability to obtain and maintain an externally funded research program.
  • Demonstrated record of peer-reviewed research.
  • Contribute to the teaching and research mission of the department and university.
  • Mentor graduate students.
  • Provide service to the department, college, and university.

Preferred Qualifications

In addition to the required qualifications, individuals with the following preferred qualifications are strongly encouraged to apply:

  • Applicants with funded programs will be given top consideration for this position.
  • Experience/knowledge in the interplay between the immune system and host organ functions in response to challenges including diet, exercise, other environmental factors, exposure to pathogens, the commensal microbiome, or to immune-activation and inflammation related to the development of diet-related metabolic diseases are preferred qualifications. Positions will come with a highly competitive start-up package and salary commensurate with candidate experience, rank, and funding.
  • Experience developing and teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses
  • Experience developing and teaching online courses in one or more areas of kinesiology.
