Reporting to the Manager of Network and Telecom Infrastructure, this position will be part a strong team that works closely with internal colleagues and vendors to maximize network/system efficiency, consistency, and availability. This position will be responsible for overseeing the design, installation, configuration, and maintenance of global large-scale network infrastructure in Apex, NC.

The Build (Responsibilities)

  • Install, support and maintain hardware and software infrastructure according to best practices, including routers, switches, wireless LAN controllers, and firewalls.
  • Perform network security design and integration.
  • Diagnose problems and solve issues often under time constraints.
  • Provide network and host based security, incident response, firewall and VPN management and administration.
  • Implement the necessary controls and procedures to protect information systems and assets from intentional or inadvertent modification, disclosure, or destruction.
  • Assist in the development of guidelines and procedures for administration and security best practices.
  • Provide updated network documentation.
  • Monitor network usage, anticipate problems and suggest solutions.
  • Manage network projects from installation to completion.
  • Work closely with colleagues to meet team goals and improve processes and practices.
  • Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions.
  • Remain current on emerging technologies via professional groups, internal and external training, independent research and study, and other avenues available.
  • Perform other tasks as directed by the Manager of Infrastructure Services.

The Toolbox (Qualifications)

  • B.S. or B.A. in a technical field or relevant combination of education and experience (may consider 10 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree).
  • 7+ years of expertise in implementing, administering, and troubleshooting network infrastructure devices, including firewalls, routers, switches, wireless access points and controllers, and monitoring applications.
  • Participate in and/or oversight of the daily upkeep and administration of the ATG's global enterprise network.
  • Lead/mentor colleagues and demonstrate ability to grow into a leadership role.
  • Proven experience with Layer 2 Switching.
  • Design and implementation of VLANs, 802.1Q VLAN Trunking, VTP, STP, Port Security, QoS, and Inter-VLAN Routing for Three-Tier Campus Network deployments using Cisco Catalyst / Nexus Switches; Configured HSRP, VRRP, GLBP, and EtherChannel for network redundancy and load-balancing.
  • Layer 3 Routing - Performed IP Addressing and Subnetting, Route Summarization and Redistribution, NAT/PAT; Designed and implemented static and dynamic routing protocols, including OSPF, EIGRP on Cisco Routers; configured BGPv4, AS-Path Filters, Prefix Filters, and BGP Path Attributes.
  • WAN - Deployed MPLS on Cisco Routers over full T3 circuits. Intelligent WAN / Hybrid WAN, Software Defined Networking experience a plus.
  • Security - Configured IP Access Control Lists and AAA TACACS+ to secure Cisco devices. Deployed VPDN, L2TP Tunnel, GRE Tunnel, and LAN-to-LAN IPSec VPN. Managed Checkpoint / ASA firewall policy.
  • Cisco Voice over IP - Designed, implemented, and supported Cisco VoIP solutions using Call Manager, Unity Connection, and Cisco Unified Contact Center Express version 10.5 with MGCP and H.323 Gateways and configuration of SRST.
  • Cisco Wireless - Deployed and managed Cisco Access Points using Wireless Lan Controllers and Prime NCS.
  • Cisco Video Conferencing - Configured and supported Cisco Video Conferencing equipment including VCS, VCS Expressway, MCU and TMS.
  • Familiarity with network monitoring / troubleshooting, systems such as Solarwinds, LiveAction, Glue Networks



Professional Skills and Additional Requirements:



  • IP Routing Protocols: BGPv4, OSPF, EIGRP.
  • LAN Technologies: Ethernet, VLANs, Trunking, VTP, STP, HSRP, VRRP, and EtherChannel.
  • Data Center Technologies: Fibre Channel over Ethernet, FabricPath Switching, Virtual SANs, Zoning.
  • WAN / MAN technologies: MPLS, T3, Fiber, Metro-E.
  • Security: IPSec VPN, GRE Tunnel, L2TP Tunnel, VPDN, ACL, AAA.
  • TCP/IP: IP Addressing, Subnetting, Route Summarization & Redistribution, NAT/PAT, QoS.
  • 7+ years Networking and Communications Administration.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
  • Strong communication skills both written and oral.
  • Ability to document complex network designs.
  • Strong routing and switching experience.
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or above certification strongly preferred.
