About The Dell Children's Center for Pulmonary Hypertension

The Dell Children's Center for Pulmonary Hypertension is a comprehensive, multidisciplinary center dedicated to the care of pediatric patients with pulmonary vascular disease, right heart failure, and complex congenital heart disease. The program integrates cardiology, critical care, pulmonology, neonatology, and surgical services to provide advanced diagnostics, medical and surgical therapies (including mechanical circulatory support and lung transplantation evaluation), and transition to adult congenital care.

About The Pediatric Pulmonary Hypertension Physician

The Dell Children's Center for Pulmonary Hypertension, part of the Texas Center for Pediatric and Congenital Heart Disease and affiliated with The University of Texas at Austin Dell Medical School, is seeking a Pediatric Pulmonary Hypertension Physician to join our growing multidisciplinary program. This individual will serve as a key partner in the diagnosis, management, and longitudinal care of infants, children, and adolescents with pulmonary vascular disease across a broad spectrum of cardiopulmonary disorders. A faculty appointment will be offered through The University of Texas at Austin Dell Medical School, commensurate with experience and academic accomplishments.

Responsibilities:



  • Provide inpatient and outpatient consultative care for pediatric patients with pulmonary hypertension, including those with congenital heart disease, lung disease, and complex critical illness.





  • Participate in and/or lead multidisciplinary PH team rounds (including Cardiology, Pulmonology, Critical Care, Neonatology, and Pharmacy).





  • Interpret and integrate hemodynamic data from echocardiography, cardiac catheterization, and advanced imaging.





  • Support clinical decision-making in the context of advanced therapies, including parenteral prostacyclin, mechanical circulatory support, and transplant evaluation.





  • Participate in clinical research, quality improvement, and educational initiatives within the Division of Pulmonary Hypertension and Dell Medical School.





  • Contribute to the teaching and mentorship of fellows, residents, and students.





  • Collaborate closely with nursing, pharmacy, and respiratory therapy teams to advance standardized care pathways and protocols.

Qualifications

Required:


  • M.D. or D.O. degree with board certification or eligibility in Pediatric Cardiology, Critical Care Medicine, Neonatology, or Pulmonology.
  • Advanced fellowship training in Pulmonary Hypertension, Pulmonary Vascular Disease, or related cardiopulmonary subspecialty is preferred.
  • Eligible for Texas medical licensure.
  • Demonstrated interest and/or experience in clinical research, program development, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
  • Commitment to academic medicine, education, and high-quality, patient-centered care.

Preferred:


  • Expertise in the management of complex cardiopulmonary physiology, including postoperative congenital heart disease, chronic lung disease of infancy, and right ventricular failure.
  • Familiarity with PH-targeted pharmacotherapy, hemodynamic monitoring, and advanced cardiac support modalities (ECMO, VAD, transplant evaluation).
  • Participation in or leadership within collaborative networks (e.g., PPHNet, ACTION, ELSO, or BPD Collaborative) is highly desirable.
