The Software Engineer Intern will join our Financial Crimes Defender R&D team to help build cloud-native microservices and web applications that support fraud detection. Working in a fast-paced, agile environment, you'll contribute to backend services and web application development, collaborate across teams on business-critical projects, and explore new technologies to enhance our platform. Ideal candidates are passionate about software engineering, have a solid foundation in programming, and are eager to learn and grow in a collaborative setting. This is a great opportunity to make a technical and social impact while gaining industry experience in a dynamic team. As part of the internship program, you'll work closely with experienced software developers who will mentor and guide you through hands-on learning and contributions to real-world systems. Your daily schedule will involve participating in agile ceremonies such as stand-ups and sprint planning, collaborating on code reviews, and developing features for commercial software in a fast-paced, cloud-native environment. You'll gain exposure to the financial industry, learning how fraud is evaluated and detected through advanced technologies, while building practical skills in software engineering, teamwork, and problem-solving.

Interns at Jack Henry earn $25.00 per hour and work a full-time schedule of 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday.

The Summer 2026 Internship Program will run from June 1 through August 7, 2026

This position will be worked remotely, within a 70 mile radius from one of our hub locations.

What you'll be responsible for:

* Participate actively in a Scrum team, learning agile development practices and contributing to sprint planning, execution, and team deliverables.

* Contribute to improving unit test quality and coverage to enhance code reliability and maintainability.

* Support the team in achieving quarterly milestones by assisting in the implementation and delivery of key software features.

What you'll need to have:

* Pursuing a degree in: computer science

* Demonstrated foundational knowledge or early experience in relevant areas of interest (e.g., [Data Structures, Algorithms, Programming, Cloud technologies]).

* Must be a U.S. citizen and not require sponsorship for employment authorization now or in the future.

What would be nice for you to have:

* Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment, contributing to problem-solving and successful delivery of software solutions

* Prior experience in designing, developing, and deploying software solutions using programming languages such as .NET/C#, Java, or equivalent technologies.
