Overview:

Charlevoix Public Schools is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to serve as the Varsity Ski Coach. This position offers a unique opportunity to lead and develop our student-athletes in a supportive and competitive environment, fostering skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

Key Responsibilities:

• While working within the school’s cooperative agreement led by Boyne City High School, implement a sound ski program that includes leadership of participants and volunteer coaches to create a positive and competitive experience.
• Develop practice plans and execute effective training sessions.
• Manage team logistics for practice and competition (may include driving).
• Promote the values of teamwork, respect, and commitment among athletes.
• Encourage participation of students K-12 and promote skills development opportunities.
• Communicate effectively with players, parents, and school staff.
• Collaborate with the athletic department and adhere to all policies and procedures outlined by Charlevoix Public Schools and the Michigan High School Athletic Association.
• Leading the school’s program with a clear vision that coincides with the Ten Basic Beliefs of Michigan Interscholastic Athletics and the educational goals of Charlevoix Public Schools (CPS).

Qualifications:

• Previous coaching experience, preferably in skiing at the high school level.
• Strong understanding of the sport (including race operations) and ability to teach fundamental skills.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Must be able to pass a background check and fulfill safety training requirements.
• CPR/AED certification will be required with training available upon hire.
