Job Overview:

RWJBH is seeking a dynamic Assistant Director of Patient Logistics Registered Nurse for the Bed Management team at our New Brunswick campus.

The assistant director of Patient Logistics is responsible for overseeing daily operations and ensuring efficient utilization of inpatient beds to support timely patient flow. This role requires collaboration with clinical and administrative staff to optimize bed allocation, reduce delays, and improve overall hospital capacity. The position involves strategic planning, real-time decision-making, and ensuring compliance with hospital policies and regulations.

Responsible for promoting teamwork with physicians and all health care providers and for promoting internal and external customer satisfaction. Ensures the efficient operation of the department and optimum use of resources to maximize productivity and minimize costs. The assistant director supports adherence to standards of quality control, financial budgeting. Manages the operations of the department on a 24-hour basis.

Qualifications:

  • BSN required
  • RN with at least 3-5 years hospital experience
  • Logistics experience
  • Nursing Leadership experience

Certifications and Licenses Required:

  • BLS and ACLS Certification
  • Active New Jersey Registered Nurse License

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Day Shift
  • Monday - Friday, some weekend commitment and holiday rotation
  • Full Time

Essential Functions:

  • Coordinating a bed management team placing patients in the right bed at the right time.
  • Facilitates the bed management process throughout the institution.
  • Manages compliance with regulatory requirements as well as RWJUH policies and procedures i,e, EMTALA, HIPPA.
  • Maximizes the efficiency and effectiveness of patient placement.
  • Ensures the optimal usage of in-patient bed resources achieved within the parameters of defined policy, ensuring that each acute hospital bed is appropriately assigned.
  • Particular attention to be given to the availability of sufficient beds for Emergency admissions, Transfer Center, and all patients portals.
  • Liaison and consult with medical and nursing personnel in the discharge and transfer of all of the above functions, so as to ensure the efficient and effective maximization of the hospital bed base.
