About Department 701 - Navy Facility Engineering & Training Technologies Group

Electric Boat Navy Facility Engineering & Training (Department 701) is an innovative architectural/engineering group specializing in design, installation and maintenance for Naval Submarine Facilities and Trainers located at Naval Submarine Base New London.

We are currently seeking a Program Representative Sr/Specialist with experience in submarine weapons systems and trainers.

Role Overview

The successful candidate will support hands-on Navy trainer development, with a concentration on Weapons Handling and Shipping Team Trainers, from inception through installation at multiple Navy Schoolhouses. Familiarization of Navy Training Documentation requirements involving New Submarine Trainers is essential. In this role, communication is critical with internal/external customers, consultants, and sub-contractors daily.

The candidate will be responsible for the successful delivery of multiple Weapons Handling and Shipping Team Trainers supporting Virginia and Columbia Class submarines in Georgia, Washington, and Australia. The candidate will also be engaged in multiple other part task trainers' development and fabrication to support a variety of training needs.

The candidate must be capable of handling multiple tasks for concurrent projects maintaining prioritization as required. Tasks include working directly with the customer regarding specific requirements; working with finance to establish and maintain overall project budgets and financial status reports; developing project and program schedules; preparing informal and formal project proposals; managing the procurement of equipment from multiple sources for trainer development and use; general correspondence including monthly status reporting to the customer, etc. The candidate will also be responsible for working with internal and external stakeholders to ensure all requirements are established and met to provide a complete product to the customer.

The position will include chairing or participating in periodic teleconferences and developing meeting minutes. The work will require close interface with senior level management of multiple government agencies including UWSTR, Submarine Learning Center (SLC) and host training commands.

Experience/leadership in planning and executing complex projects and operations is necessary to be successful in this role.

This job requires periodic travel.



Qualifications

Required

    High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 8 years of prior Naval submarine experience pertaining to submarine systems (Weapons Shipping and handling), training courses, maintenance and electronic simulators
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings

Preferred

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Project Management, or Construction Management
  • Prior Navy Service as a Fire Control Technician, Torpedoman or Sonar Technician
  • Navy submarine training or simulator experience
  • Project management experience managing multiple sub-contractors/vendors
  • Familiarity with the Oracle Procurement system


Skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills and strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Public Speaking
  • Use of Microsoft Office applications, including Microsoft Project
  • Familiarity with commercial building codes is a plus
  • Work without supervision and begin projects independently
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to create clear and concise technical documentation for a broad audience
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
