Are you seeking an opportunity to solve complex challenges in voice services, unified communications, and enterprise collaboration technologies?

Are you passionate about delivering seamless, high-quality voice and collaboration solutions that enhance how organizations connect and communicate?

If so, we're looking for someone like you to join our team at APL.

We are seeking a Senior Voice and Collaboration Engineer to support the design, administration, and optimization of the organization's collaboration and telephony systems, including Zoom, Cisco UC, SIP trunking, cloud telephony, and contact center platforms. You will assist with modernizing communication services to ensure performance, reliability, and scalability across our unified communications environment, while mentoring junior staff and leading key technical initiatives. You will join a team committed to delivering innovative, dependable voice and collaboration solutions, with a focus on continuous improvement, creativity, and excellence in solving complex technical challenges.

As a Senior Voice and Collaboration Engineer...

  • Your primary responsibility will be to support the build, deployment, administration, and improvement of communication and telephony platforms - including evaluating emerging UC technologies and their potential architectural design.
  • Configure, monitor, and optimize UC environments to ensure security, reliability, resiliency, scalability, and a high-quality user experience.
  • Manage lifecycle tasks for Zoom and CMS, including feature testing, upgrades, governance, integrations, and performance enhancements.
  • Develop automation and scripting solutions, leverage APIs, and use intelligent tools to streamline workflows, improve operational efficiency, and enhance diagnostic capabilities.
  • Collaborate with network, infrastructure, security, and operations teams to ensure UC systems integrate seamlessly and meet performance and reliability goals.

Qualifications

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...

  • Possess a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Telecommunications, or a related field. Equivalent experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Have 5+ years experience architecting, implementing, and managing unified communications and telephony environments.

  • Have experience administering Zoom-including enterprise configuration, integration, policy management, and some exposure to Cisco Meeting Server (CMS) or Cisco WebEx.
  • Bring strong experience in enterprise telephony architecture, including Cisco CUCM, SIP-based connectivity, cloud and virtual telephony platforms, call routing, and contact center technologies.
  • Have demonstrated experience with collaboration and telephony APIs (Zoom, Webex, MS Graph, REST) and can develop automation and scripting solutions to enhance system performance and efficiency.
  • Understand OSI layers 1-3, with emphasis on layer 2 and 3 network protocols.
  • Are able to obtain an Interim Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain a Secret level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you...

  • Bring experience with Meeting Room and AV collaboration technologies, including solutions from Poly, DTEN, Logitech room systems, and digital signage platforms.
  • Have supported implementation of MFA and SSO solutions (e.g., Okta) and worked with collaboration analytics and monitoring tools such as Zoom Real-Time Dashboards, Quality Reports or Cisco Control Hub.
  • Have strong experience with cloud telephony platforms, including migrations from on-premise systems, and experience with telephony automation tools such as Unimax NumberPro and 2nd Nature.
  • Have experience with Alertus and Everbridge mass notification systems, digital signage administration, and E911 requirements including Ray Baum's Act and Kari's Law.
