Job Summary

FIU College of Arts and Sciences, Center for Children and Families, is currently seeking a detail-oriented, reliable, Temporary Research Assistant to join the team in the Substance Use Neuropsychology Laboratory at the Center for Children and Families.

The Research Assistant will provide support to the Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development (ABCD) Study: a landmark multi-site NIH study to assess the short- and long-term impact of substance use on brain development. This role involves direct work with participants, data collection, and adherence to IRB-approved procedures. Ideal candidates are interested in human behavior, comfortable navigating sensitive topics, and thrive in structured yet collaborative environments.

Duties include:

  • Conduct and support study visits and data collection
  • Review, export and fix data collection
  • Ensure data quality
  • Assist with participant scheduling and informed consent
  • Organizes and maintains study materials; Records study notes and results; files and maintains records; codes data for input for electronic data processing; inputs and retrieves data using computers.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential records
  • Performs data analysis and data entry.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are related to the position.
  • Collaborate with the lab team and uphold study integrity


Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma with three (3) years of experience or two (2) years of post-secondary education with one (1) year of experience; OR an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.



Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Psychology, Social Work, Public Health or a related field.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Prefers two years of experience conducting standardized testing and/or working with children or adolescents.
  • Comfort with emotionally sensitive material
  • Knowledge of advanced features in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail skills

Advertised Salary
  • $16.00-$18.00 per hour.
