DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will serve as the Officer for the Testing and Placement Section, where your responsibilities will encompass a variety of tasks. You will be the primary contact for applicants, addressing their inquiries regarding the status of their applications and providing detailed information about the application process and expected timelines. Additionally, you will gather documentation from previous Cadet and Law Enforcement Officer Training (LEOT) application cycles to forward to Polygraph Examiners and Background Investigators. Your role will also involve researching past application cycles to identify reasons for disqualification and the associated timeframes, allowing you to make informed recommendations to the HR analyst about whether to proceed with the polygraph examination or consider a waiver. You will review previous files to understand disqualification reasons and provide initial recommendations for cases where a polygraph waiver may be applicable based on prior screening history. Furthermore, you will compile Cadet and LEOT application documentation upon request from external agencies, schedule and prepare this documentation for their review, and assemble review panels for Appeal Reviews when applicants contest disqualifications. In these instances, you will compile necessary documentation for the panel to facilitate their decision-making process, ensuring that the panel consists of individuals who were not involved in the original determination.

In addition to these responsibilities, you will also manage tasks related to the polygraph process. This includes scanning completed polygraph booklets after pre-polygraph sessions and processing notices for withdrawals and no-shows. You will be responsible for handling withdrawals that occur during the polygraph process and reviewing the results provided by the vendor, including the charts, comments, and raw materials such as the booklet of responses, along with the Pass/Fail recommendations. It will be essential for you to ensure that all materials comply with polygraph policies, and you will need to bring any disqualifying items that the vendor may not have flagged to the attention of the section supervisor. Your role will also involve determining when issues are resolved, allowing you to advance the application to the next stage in the process.
