Engineering Technician I (Mechanical)
The Engineering Technician 1 (Mechanical)
supports all Engineering teams by performing hands-on mechanical assembly,
fixture builds, CNC programming, prototype builds and production process
validation. This position requires strong practical skills, attention to detail
and the ability to follow technical instructions under Engineering guidance.
When Engineering workload is low, the technician may support Return Merchandise
Authorization (RMA) repair activities or production.

Job Summary
- Build, assemble, and modify mechanical fixtures, jigs, tooling, test setups, and Engineering prototypes.
- Perform machining and fabrication tasks using CNC and machine shop equipment.
- Collect simple build or
measurement data for Engineering use using basic inspection tools such as
calipers, micrometers, and gauges. - Create new CNC programs and optimize current programs.
- Train CNC production
operators to set up and run new and existing programs. - Follow established prototype build timelines and communicate changes, delays, or risks to the NPI team.
- Perform other Engineering activities as required.
- Responsible for the proper handling and management of
hazardous waste generated in their work area.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Proficient in use of machine shop equipment (drill press, saws, hand tools, CNC Mills, CNC lathes, grinders, etc.).
- Ability to read mechanical drawings and assembly instructions.
- Proficient in programming using Mastercam, SolidWorks, CAM Works, or equivalent.
- Experience in programming CNC mills and lathes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Required Experience and Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Relevant technical certificate or degree preferred.
- 5+ years' experience in conventional and/or CNC machining.
Licenses, Certifications, etc.
