Engineering Technician I (Electrical)
The
Engineering Technician 1 (Electrical) supports all Engineering teams by
performing hands-on Electrical assembly, building cables, harnesses, soldering,
building prototypes, and building test systems. This position requires strong
practical skills, attention to detail and the ability to follow technical
instructions under Engineering guidance. When Engineering workload is low, the
technician may support Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) repair activities
or production.

Job Summary
- Assemble, crimp, label, and test electrical cables, connectors, and harnesses for engineering prototypes and test systems.
- Perform soldering operations for engineering prototypes and test systems.
- Follow wiring diagrams and assembly instructions to build engineering prototypes and test systems.
- Collect simple build or
measurement data for engineering use using basic inspection tools such as
calipers, micrometers, and gauges. - Train production operators to set up and run new and existing electrical test programs.
- Perform basic electrical troubleshooting with guidance from engineering.
- Support validation off
electrical test systems when assigned. - Follow established prototype build timelines and communicate changes, delays, or risks to the NPI team.
- Perform other Engineering activities as required.
- Responsible for the proper handling and management of
hazardous waste generated in their work area.
Required Skills and Qualifications

- Proficient in cable assembly, crimping, labeling, soldering and utilizing basic hand tools for electrical assembly.
- Ability to read electrical drawings and assembly instructions.
- Experience in performing electrical tests (continuity, insulation resistance, hi-pot, etc.).
- Ability to operate oscilloscope and spectrum analyzer.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Required Experience and Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Relevant technical certificate or degree preferred.
- 5+ years' experience in electromechanical assembly, testing, and/or soldering.
Licenses, Certifications, etc.
