Job Summary

Do you love turning data into smarter processes? As an Optimization Consultant, you'll focus on driving improvements within aircraft maintenance planning, programs, and reliability processes. You'll define solutions and alternatives that maximize operational effectiveness while ensuring sustainable regulatory compliance. This role offers a unique opportunity to analyze how the Engineering Department operates, quantify performance, and propose optimizations, whether through tool enhancements or process revisions. You'll collaborate with stakeholders across Inflight, Customer Experience, Pilots, Supply Chain, Maintenance Planning, and Production, while working independently to deliver impactful results. Your work will help shape efficient, data-driven processes that keep Southwest's fleet safe, reliable, and ready to serve our Customers.

    Responsibilities
    • Provide structured review and analysis of processes to identify improvement opportunities
    • Perform operational performance analysis and identify improvements
    • Mines, synthesizes, and analyzes multiple data types and sources effectively for providing Senior Leadership insight on Divisional performance
    • Lead cross-functional projects and initiatives aimed at addressing unique operational challenges
    • Engage department managers and other organizations in implementation and maintenance of optimization initiatives
    • Define and oversee organizational metrics and reporting
    • Facilitate reengineering and change processes to deliver results on target
    • Develop and deliver persuasive presentations to other organizations and leadership to establish broad support for change initiatives
    • May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders
    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
    • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents, financial data/reports, and operational data to establish Key Performance Indicators
    • Thorough knowledge of organizational principles and management
    • Ability to isolate and analyze significant trends from source data
    • Ability to comprehend, analyze and evaluate situations, organizations, contracts, and systems and recommend modifications and improvements
    • Ability to facilitate, train, and inspire teams to achieve targeted results
    • A "do-er" and self-starter who works well in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
    • Highly responsive and adaptable to efficiently manage quick-turn, tactical projects
    • Ability to translate complex processes and results to clarify understanding by audience perspective and level of familiarity
    • Ability to work in stressful situations, and maintain a positive attitude
    • Ability to communicate in a flexible and effective manner, and with all levels of audience

    Education
    • Required: High School Diploma or GED
    • Required: Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management, Engineering, Business Administration and/or related field
    Experience
    • Advanced level experience, seasoned and specialized knowledge in:
      • Delivering analytic solutions within airline operations or airline maintenance
      • Developing/implementing organizational performance metrics to drive change
      • Statistical and analytical analysis techniques
      • Performance management: Planning/Budgeting/Forecasting, Corporate Scorecards, Dashboards, and Reporting
    Licensing/Certification

    Physical Abilities
    • Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
    • Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
    • Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job
    Other Qualifications
    • Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines.
    • Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.
    • Must be at least 18 years of age.
    • Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines.

    Pay & Benefits:

    Competitive market salary from $108,700.00 per year to $120,800.00 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the Company.
