Position Summary

The Operation Engineer I is an advanced level opportunity on our Facility Operations team. In this role, you will ensure MultiCare patients and families have the best possible experience when visiting facilities across our health system.

Responsibilities

  • You will oversee the safe and efficient operations of the gas and electric boilers, HVAC, air compressors, pumps, emergency generators, and other auxiliary equipment
  • You will engage your technical expertise with independent problem solving and attention to detail
  • You will perform tasks pertaining to the boiler room and steam distribution system
  • You will perform rounds and inspections of machine rooms and roof areas
  • You will communicate effectively with your team
  • You will engage with a service-oriented attitude, professional integrity, and attention to detail

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred
  • City of Tacoma Operating Engineer License (or obtain license within 90 days of hire)
  • Medical gas ASSE 6040 certifications obtained within 18 months of hire
  • Accomplished in steam, HVAC, and basic electrical related to plant operations and maintenance
  • Minimum six (6) years of experience directly related to operations and maintenance of building mechanical and electrical systems
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience with Computer and EMCS (Energy Management Control System)
  • Valid Washington State driver's license and proof of a safe driving record (which meets established MHS Standards) obtained by a motor vehicle report from the appropriate state

Additional Requirements for Mary Bridge Children's Hospital Include:

  • Completion of Vocational Trade/Tech certification program or Certificate of Licensure in the identified areas
  • City of Tacoma Operating Engineer License III required within 90 days of hire
  • Medical gas ASSE 6040 certification after hire
  • ASHE Certified Health Care Physical Environment Worker required within 6 months of hire
  • On Call Required

Pay and Benefit Expectations

We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $58.97 - $58.97 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant's years of experience align.
