This position is responsible for winding simple to moderate coils used in Sunbelt-Solomon Solution's transformers according to winding specifications produced by the Engineering Department.

This is a weekend shift position from 5AM to 5:30 PM 12 hours Friday- Sunday work 36 get paid a guarantee 40 hours



  • Complete the following actions per winding design/build sheets:
  • Select type and size of wire specified for primary and secondary windings of coil to be wound.
  • Creates appropriate form and loads form onto winding machine.
  • Threads end of wire from reel through tension device, guides, and spreader, bends wire ends to form lead and attaches lead to coil source.
  • Set machine controls to adjust tension on wire and counter is correct.
  • Starts machine and manually feeds wire over coil form to obtain even and uniform winding and shape of coil.
  • Monitor turns counter and stop machine at specified number of turns.
  • Wraps insulation between layers and around wound coil or inserts ducts between turns to form cooling ducts as specified on winding design.
  • Cuts wire to form leads.
  • Form coils with rubber or plastic mallet to maintain shape during winding.
  • Strips insulation from end of lead wires, threads lead wires through insulating sleeves or slides sleeves over leads and solders lead wires to terminals as determined in winding spec.
  • Interface with company's time and attendance software to record time spent working on individual jobs.
  • Tests coils for winding continuity as required.
  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Previous experience working in a manufacturing/technical environment.
  • Must have experience running automated machines such as CNC machining tools/automated production equipment.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos as well as write.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to read and use a tape measure.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • A resume is required in order to be considered for the position.
  • Physical Requirements
    • Employee must be able to stand, operate foot pedal and reach with hands and fingers while performing the duties of this position.
    • The employee is required to walk.
    • The employee must frequently lift and or move up to 50 pounds. Lifting devices are available for lifting weights in excess of 30 pounds.
