Your Job

DarkVision, a Koch Engineered Solutions company, is looking for a Field Deployment Specialist to be based out of Pittsburgh, PA. You will be responsible for deploying DarkVision's industry-leading ultrasonic downhole imaging technology in various jobs and well types across the continental US, with a primary emphasis on the Utica Shale. You will be working with different oil and gas operators, service companies, deployment systems, and personnel, and will be personally responsible for the successful execution of each job.

The essential characteristics of a successful candidate are that you are very hard-working and a self-starter. The ability to travel and spend significant time in the field is an absolute must for this role. Our Operations and Engineering teams will support you, but you will be the on-site representative responsible for execution of the job, as well as direct communication with the customer.

Our Team

To make smart decisions, oil and gas operators need a clear picture of the inner workings of their wells. The team at DarkVision makes this happen. Our experts from across the machine vision, medical imaging, aerospace, and computer graphics sectors have worked to create the most technologically advanced platform for downhole diagnostics. Come join our team as we embark on the exciting journey ahead to become the global leader in industrial imaging.

What You Will Do

  • Everything & Anything: There will be a wide range of standard and non-standard tasks you will be expected to complete, both inside and outside the typical field deployment umbrella. This role has an entrepreneurial element, and no task is considered above or beneath you.
  • Deployments: Successfully deploy the technology in wells, including mobilization, rig-up, rig-down, coordination with site personnel and service companies, and overseeing product deployment in each customer's well.
  • Travel: The successful candidate will travel extensively throughout the US and may occasionally travel internationally to deploy the technology. Travel is a critical component of this role. A flexible personal life that supports significant time away from home is required.
  • Preparation for Jobs: Ensure tools, parts, trucks, and critical equipment are checked, cleaned, calibrated, and verified prior to each deployment. Responsibilities include maintaining, fixing, cleaning, testing, and refurbishing equipment as needed.
  • Communications: Maintain clear, timely, and effective communication with customers, site personnel, and DarkVision staff to ensure deployments are executed successfully.
  • Troubleshooting: Deploying new technology requires real-time troubleshooting in the field. While supported by engineering and operations teams, the ability to quickly diagnose issues, improvise, and perform under pressure is critical. Anticipating and solving field problems is a key part of the role.
  • Product Input & Feedback: Provide feedback and ideas to improve products, technology, and operational processes. Field feedback is critical and is incorporated directly into engineering efforts to improve current and future offerings.
  • Growth Potential & Career Advancement: DarkVision is experiencing rapid growth across new technologies, products, and markets. This role offers strong opportunities for increased responsibility, compensation, and long-term career advancement.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Experience deploying logging technologies using wireline, tractor, coiled tubing, or other deployment methods.
  • Experience working with US oil & gas operators or service companies.
  • Able and willing to spend significant time travelling and perform sustained fieldwork.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Location: Located near Pittsburgh, PA or willing to relocate there; no rotation or housing provided.
  • Oil Field Service Experience: General experience with downhole equipment, well construction, completion, or similar operations.
  • Technical Background: A technical or engineering background is helpful but not required.
  • Career-Focused: Motivated to work hard, advance professionally, and grow within a rapidly expanding company.
  • Technology Enthusiast: Interest in learning and working with innovative, complex technologies and modern software systems.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to clearly and professionally communicate issues, concerns, and discrepancies to stakeholders.
