Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a Full Stack Web Developer - Azure Cloud Modernization & Migration

Peraton is seeking a Full Stack Web Developer who will support a largescale Government/DoD application modernization and cloudmigration initiative leveraging Microsoft Azure. This role requires a developer who can operate confidently across the full technology stack while adhering to federal security, compliance, and accreditation standards. The ideal candidate brings handson engineering expertise, experience working in secure environments, and a missiondriven mindset.

Key Responsibilities

Cloud Modernization & Migration**

    Modernize legacy government systems into secure, scalable, cloudnative architectures on Azure.
  • Support migration of onpremises applications, databases, and services into IL4/IL5 Azure Government environments.
  • Implement modernization strategies such as rehosting, refactoring, rearchitecting, and rebuilding.
  • Collaborate with cloud architects to ensure solutions meet DoD cybersecurity, resiliency, and performance requirements.

Full Stack Development

  • Build responsive, accessible web applications using modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Angular, D3 or Vue) in compliance with Section 508.
  • Develop secure backend services, APIs, and microservices using .NET, Node.js, Java, or Python.
  • Integrate applications with Azure Government services including App Service, Functions, Key Vault, Azure SQL, Cosmos DB and Kafka streaming services
  • Apply secure coding practices aligned with DoD STIGs, OWASP, and Zero Trust principles.

DevSecOps & Automation

  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub Enterprise with integrated security scanning.
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Bicep, ARM, or Terraform for Azure Government cloud.
  • Automate deployments, environment provisioning, and configuration management in controlled environments.
  • Support continuous monitoring using Azure Monitor, App Insights, and Log Analytics within government enclaves.
  • Support Software Factory and DOD approved software repository(Irondome/Vulcan)

Security, Compliance & Accreditation

  • Develop solutions that comply with DoD RMF, NIST 80053, FedRAMP High, and Zero Trust architecture guidelines.
  • Support ATO (Authority to Operate) documentation, evidence gathering, and security testing.
  • Support Unit testing, SAST(Static Application Testing) & DAST(Dynamic Application Testing) efforts
  • Implement identity and access management using Azure AD Government, RBAC, and conditional access policies.
  • Ensure data protection, encryption, and secure communication across all application layers.

Collaboration & Delivery

  • Work closely with government stakeholders, program managers, cybersecurity teams, and crossfunctional engineering groups.
  • Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and contribute to sprint planning, estimation, and retrospectives.
  • Produce clear technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and operational runbooks.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior developers and team members.


Qualifications

Required Skills & Experience

  • 5 years with BS/BA; 3 years with MS/MA; 0 years with PhD
  • Must be US Citizen
  • Able to obtain DoD Public Trust clearance.
  • Strong proficiency with frontend technologies: HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript/TypeScript, and modern frameworks (React, Angular, or Vue).
  • Backend development experience with .NET Core, Node.js, Java, or Python.
  • Handson experience with Azure Government services and cloudnative architectures.
  • Experience modernizing monolithic applications into microservices or serverless architectures.
  • Proficiency with CI/CD pipelines, Git, and DevSecOps tooling.
  • Experience with containers (Docker) and orchestration (AKS, ACA).
  • Familiarity with IaC tools (Bicep, ARM, Terraform).
  • Understanding of DoD cybersecurity requirements, STIGs, RMF, and secure coding practices.
  • Experience working in controlled or classified environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active Public Trust clearance
  • Azure certifications (AZ204, AZ305, AZ400, or equivalent).
  • Experience with eventdriven architectures (Service Bus, Event Grid, Event Hubs).
  • Background supporting federal ATO processes.
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks (Jest, xUnit, NUnit, Cypress).
  • Familiarity with DoD Cloud Infrastructure (IL2-IL6) and Zero Trust implementations.

Target Salary Range

$86,000 - $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
