Job Title: UI/UX Design Consultant - I (USD). Location: New York, NY. Position Overview: Client Insurance Company, a Fortune 100 leader and the largest mutual life insurer in the U.S., is seeking a Senior UX/UI Product Designer to support major initiatives across consumer-facing agent websites, Suitability IQ (AI powered toolkit), and conversational AI experiences. This role spans consumer, agent, and staff digital platforms, including:
- Personalized agent websites powered by a CMS.
- AI Suitability Assist chatbot.
- Suitability Pre Sales Sandbox (prescreen tool).
- Component-driven design system expansion.
You will collaborate with design leadership, ADA specialists, product managers, engineers, compliance, legal, content strategists, researchers, and vendors to deliver accessible, compliant, and conversion focused digital experiences. This position requires comfort working in regulated environments, designing within constraints, and making system level decisions that impact large-scale ecosystems. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead UX/UI design for consumer and agent-facing platforms.
- Map and design customer flows supporting financial decision-making and conversion.
- Lead chatbot UX (patterns, flows, intent mapping, fallback and escalation paths).
- Design end-to-end flows for pre-screening (Pre Sales Sandbox).
- Translate complex regulatory content into clear, actionable interactions.
- Apply and extend NYL's design system using component-driven design.
- Collaborate with product, engineering, compliance, and SMEs for feasibility and compliance.
- Ensure ADA compliance and accessibility alignment.
- Test, iterate, and refine based on research and performance data.
- Support UAT and produce development-ready specs.
- Create presentation materials for leadership showcases.
Must Have Skills:
- 3-4 years advanced Figma experience (components, variants, design systems at scale).
- 5-8 years digital web design translating UX strategy into component-based UI.
- 7 years UX/product design with a user centric approach.
- 2-3 years design experience in CMS-driven environments (content models, templates, authoring constraints).
- 2-4 years contributing to design systems (component creation, governance, tokenized workflows).
- Hands-on experience designing chatbot / conversational AI experiences (flows, IA mapping, intent design, response structures).
- Strong capability in interaction design, system thinking, and accessibility aligned UI.
- Ability to work in regulated or constrained enterprise environments.
Deal Breakers:
- Primarily visual/marketing design background without component based UX experience.
- No familiarity with design systems or tokenized workflows.
- Limited or no experience designing within CMS or other constrained platforms.
- Lack of collaboration with engineering/product in enterprise delivery environments.
Design Qualifications:
- Strong conceptual, interaction, and systems design skills.
- Experience with customer journeys, IA models, user flows, wireframes, and conversation maps.
- High-fidelity UI skills with strong accessibility communication.
- Experience balancing brands, ADA, and platform constraints.
- Ability to apply research insights from qualitative & quantitative data.
Technical Expertise:
- Mastery of Figma and FigJam.
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite.
- Experience designing within CMS, low-code, or enterprise system constraints.
- Ability to produce detailed design specs and interaction notes.
- Basic literacy in HTML, CSS, and front-end frameworks.
- Familiarity with Agile (Jira) methodologies.

- Works closely with design directors, ADA specialists, product/content leaders, engineers, compliance/legal partners, and vendors.
