DESCRIPTION
  • The core emphasis is to support the research, development, production and deployment of oceanographic instrumentation.

  • Primary job function will be to assist technical staff and in support of drifter fabrication. Tasking includes but is not limited to receiving and processing incoming packages and making available to designated staff, packaging and dropping off outgoing packages based on direction from designated staff, sorting and organizing drifter components ahead of greater assembly and counting discrete inventoried components based on direction from designated staff. Tasking also includes general warehouse upkeep as well as shop and studio upkeep.

ADDITIONAL POSITION DETAILS
  • Anticipated duration: 5-6 months
  • Location: University campus in La Jolla*Work Schedule: 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday - Friday
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Basic knowledge of computers, printers and email communication
  • Basic knowledge of hand tools
  • Basic knowledge of carpentry tools
  • Basic knowledge of simple hardware components (bolts, screws, washers, nuts, etc.)
  • Ability to interact and communicate with a variety of diverse individuals, including scientists, engineers, vendors, technicians, laboratories and other support personnel.
  • Capable of lifting and carrying up to 75lbs
  • Valid CA Driver's License
  • Background screen required

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $53,286 - $62,431 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $25.52 - $29.90

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
