Pavion and our family of companies are seeking a talented and motivated Sales Engineer III to join our security business unit.

Primary Responsibilities:

Design & Engineering Support



  • Lead technical design and proposal development for small to mid-sized projects, ensuring alignment with client needs and standards
  • Prepare detailed BOMs, scopes of work, and system diagrams to support procurement and project execution
  • Identify and suggest value engineering opportunities to enhance competitiveness and customer satisfaction
  • Collaborate with sales, engineering, and operations teams to refine designs and incorporate feedback
  • Ensure all deliverables comply with industry codes, quality standards, and customer requirements


Site & Customer Engagement



  • Conduct site walks and needs assessments independently to gather accurate field data, assess existing conditions, and identify customer requirements.
  • Translate site findings into system designs that address functional needs, installation constraints, and integration with existing infrastructure.
  • Participate in customer-facing design reviews and presentations, clearly communicating technical concepts and proposed solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Serve as a trusted technical resource during customer interactions, ensuring alignment between proposed solutions and client expectations.
  • Provide feedback from site visits and client meetings to internal teams to support accurate proposals and project planning.


Proposal, Risk & Bid Strategy Support



  • Collaborate with sales and procurement teams to validate the technical and commercial feasibility of proposed solutions
  • Review material costs, labor estimates, and vendor quotes to ensure proposal accuracy and competitiveness
  • Identify potential risks related to scope, site conditions, or integration challenges, and provide input to mitigate them in early proposal stages
  • Support the refinement of bid strategies by aligning technical designs with budget constraints and customer priorities
  • Ensure proposals are complete, well-documented, and aligned with both customer expectations and internal capabilities


Leadership & Knowledge Development



  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of applicable products, technologies, and industry standards to ensure accurate and competitive solutions
  • Apply updated knowledge to improve design quality, compliance, and system performance
  • Share relevant technical insights with team members to support project success
  • Participate in training and vendor sessions to maintain expertise and support ongoing development

Basic Qualifications:



  • High school diploma
  • 5+ years of presales engineering, system design, or related technical experience
  • Proven track record designing complex integrated systems across multiple technologies
  • Strong leadership and mentorship skills
  • Advanced knowledge of CAD, Visio, and related design tools
  • Deep understanding of applicable codes, compliance requirements, and industry trends


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Certifications such as NICET II/III or manufacturer credentials preferred
