Overview

As an Application Security Intern at GuidePoint Security, you will gain hands-on experience and develop core skills through training, shadowing, and defined projects. While prior directly related experience is not required, we are looking for candidates with technical aptitude, passion for Application Security, and strong communication abilities.

Coursework in computer science or related fields is preferred but not mandatory. You will work closely with experienced analysts to learn security assessment techniques, tool usage, and remediation best practices. This is a great opportunity to gain exposure to application security and determine if it aligns with your career interests.

Responsibilities



  • AI-Enabled Security & Automation


    • Observe and participate in vendor demonstrations of AI-powered security tools
    • Assist in developing AI-driven workflows for security reporting and documentation
    • Research emerging AI/ML applications in vulnerability management and code review
    • Support the team in building prototypes for AI-assisted security processes
    • Help identify opportunities where AI and automation can improve security operations




  • Application Security


    • Shadow security assessments and manual testing engagements
    • Assist in reviewing and validating security findings from various tools, as applicable
    • Observe SDLC activities and build familiarity with SSDLC phases and activities
    • Support maintenance of security documentation and knowledge base
    • Help with security tooling configuration and optimization tasks




Qualifications



  • Basic understanding of application security concepts and tools like SAST, DAST, SCA
  • Familiarity with manual testing tools like Burp Suite, or OWASP ZAP
  • Passion for Web Development, Cyber Security, or Application Security
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Technical aptitude and ability to learn new skills quickly
  • Eastern/Central time zone, preferred
