Dewberry is currently seeking a Design-Build Construction Project Engineer for its Cerritos, Ca office. The selected candidate will become part of a growing team that provides a full range of construction services. In this position, the selected candidate will earn experience moving construction projects through all phases from concept to completion, and will receive direct mentoring from seasoned construction managers.

A successful candidate may be able to leverage rapid advancement opportunities to quickly take on increasing construction management responsibilities through demonstrated competency and success in the role. The selected candidate will provide support to project leadership in the development and execution of the Firm's implementation and construction management efforts for its design-build projects.

Projects will mainly be in the Southern CA areas, although willingness to work out of town in the support of other project teams occasionally is required. Travel may be up to 33% aggregate over the course of a year.

Responsibilities

At Dewberry, Project Engineers provide administrative and technical services in the fields of scheduling, cost engineering, subcontract coordination, and general project administration. Along with project managers, estimators and superintendents, project engineers have responsibilities in overall project oversight from pre-construction to completion and may be assigned to a particular section including estimating, subcontractor interface, or other facet(s) of the project.

    Work closely with project manager and project team leaders to assist in the development, execution, and monitoring of project plans, purchasing activities, submittal reviews, and project schedules.
  • Specific work may include, but is not limited to, client communication, budget oversight and responsibility, construction document (plan and specifications) oversight of RFI's Submittals, cost estimates and quality control/quality assurance in order to help the project team deliver a quality project.
  • Aid in close out of project; includes assembling manuals and other warranties for turnover to owner and preparation final payment documents for subcontractors.
  • Work alongside estimating to help analyze proposal specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings to determine scope of work.
  • Prepare bid packages and contact required subs and manage commitment till bid due dates.
  • Preparing technical trade narratives with the help of project team when required
  • Help conduct detailed bid reviews for scope gaps and ensure adherence to plans and specifications.


Required Skills & Required Experience

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in engineering, architecture, construction management or proven equal experience.
  • 3-5 years' experience in a project engineer, or similar role in the construction industry, experience with mechanical or electrical construction preferred.
  • Interest and passion for optimizing buildings and the construction industry.
  • Knowledge of Construction and Bid software a plus

  • Technologically oriented with proficiency in MS Office, Excel and Procore
  • Industry relationships with construction design, and other relevant trade partners considered a plus.
  • Knowledge of MEP or strong mechanical knowledge a plus.

Salary Range

The projected range for this position is $96,128-$137,325 annually. Depending upon other factors, i.e., skills, experience, location, and market conditions, the range may vary slightly.
