Job Summary-

**The hourly rate for this position is $31.82 / hour plus 15% Shift Differential**

General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems, a premier provider of ordnance weapons and tactical systems to the U.S. Department of Defense and allied nations, is seeking a Plater #1 to join our Saco Operations team. We are about supporting the mission of the warfighter. Our products can be found with every U.S. Military branch with allies around the world. We are looking for motivated and creative individuals who want to help shape and support this organization.

Sets up and operates Chrome Plating and Electro-polishing equipment to coat or remove metal electrolytically to provide a hard wear resistant finish on internal and external surfaces. Monitors plating operation with emphasis on correct voltage, amperage, and time cycles. Measures thickness using precision air gauges, plug gauges, permascopes, borescopes, and micrometers, and will work to tolerances as precise as one ten thousandth of an inch. Follows established company directives, policies, military specifications, quality documents and manufacturing instructions.



Responsibilities-

Places or fastens metal objects to be plated to hooks, racks or containers and performs various plating applications. Ensure that proper set-up procedures are followed. Removes plated objects from solutions at periodic intervals to insure conformance to specifications. Tunes, monitors, and adjusts various electrical power sources, such as rectifiers, bussing, ampere meters, voltmeters, power stats., rheostats, transformers, and heat controls to specified limits.

Collects and labels samples of plating solutions for laboratory analysis. Monitor certification on parts that meet specifications and take necessary steps to correct parts that are out of specification. Ensures proper fill level of all process solutions, verify proper ventilation, agitation, and temperatures and adjust as necessary. Inspect components at the end of processes, to determine thickness of metal deposits.

Decants and recharges solution tanks using pumping equipment. Cleans scrubber systems on a scheduled basis to include use of hot water, disassemble of scrubbers, visual inspections, etc; and must be conscious of scrubber system serviceability. Maintains plating process tanks and equipment as required, including cleaning and contacts serviceability of leads and connections, evaluations of tank plumbing, electrical, etc.

Safety and good housekeeping policies and procedures must be followed. Follow PPE requirements and controls, including guidelines for personal hygiene, to help eliminate the spread of cross-contamination throughout the facility. Must be constantly aware of hazards associated with assigned chemical and plating processes, including chromic acid fumes



Qualifications-

ABILITIES

Able to use precision measuring instruments, hand gauges, and CAG's to complete required inspections. Capable of the control and calibration of Twin Test XRF PTG-6000 X-ray machine, and responsible for keeping it calibrated.

QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or G.E.D. required. No supervision required as to the mechanics of the job. Must be able to lift 35 pounds frequently and 50 pounds on occasion. Must be capable of performing all tasks and duties of Plater #2 and #3. Employee must have basic computer skills, and may be required to enter and verify information into written forms or database(s) as appropriate. May be required to perform other duties as required by supervision and follows instructions as directed.
