HOW YOU'LL CONTRIBUTE: As a Construction Inspector II with the City of Moline, you'll support the successful delivery of municipal public works projects by applying your technical expertise in surveying, drafting, data collection, material testing, and construction observation. You'll prepare plans, specifications, cost estimates, and reports; collect and analyze field data; and identify and document any deviations from approved plans during construction. As a lead on survey crews and assigned projects, you'll coordinate work activities, guide technical staff, and collaborate with engineers, contractors, city departments, and the public to ensure projects are accurate, compliant, and completed to high standards in service of the Moline community. Physical Demands and Work Environment The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This position requires regular physical activity associated with fieldwork and construction observation, including standing, walking, bending, climbing, and working on uneven terrain. The employee must be able to perform medium-level physical demands, including lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling materials, tools, or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Work is performed in a combination of office and outdoor environments, with frequent exposure to varying weather conditions, traffic, construction sites, noise, dust, and other job-site conditions. The role requires visual acuity for drafing, surveying, and plan review, as well as the ability to communicate effectively in person and by phone. Appropriate safety equipment and procedures are required and provided when working in field environments. Residency Requirement AFSCME employees shall live within a 20-mile radius from the City's Emergency Center, located at 1630 8th Avenue in Moline, within 180 days of hire.
