Johns Hopkins Carey Business School is seeking an individual with strong relationship building skills for the position of
Assistant Director Employer Relations. This position builds and maintains relationships with employer organizations for student internship and employment opportunities. Will cultivate key partnerships both internal and external to JHU, coordinate employer relations efforts, represent JHU Carey Business School and advise a client base of employers. They will also maintain a variety of databases tracking employer and student information. This position is based in Washington, D.C. with frequent travel to Harbor East, Baltimore required.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop employer development strategy and continuously evaluate and improve.
- Develop and maintain relationship with targeted student population.
- Develop and maintain relationships with companies, government entities, and nonprofits for the purpose of developing opportunities for students.
- Manage the on-campus recruiting program and related employer events.
- Coordinate with employer partners to conduct on-campus employer focused events, info sessions, on-campus interviews, etc.
- Contact and visit employers independently.
- Educate employers on best ways to connect with students and on tools available to employers for student interaction and evaluation.
- Prepare and regularly distribute communication to employer partners.
- Develop data base and produce regular reports and evaluate results.
- Represent Johns Hopkins at local, regional and national functions which contribute to the employer development strategy.
In addition to the duties described above
- Lead employer relationship management for the commercial healthcare sector, including pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, healthcare services, and health technology organizations, to expand internship and full-time employment opportunities for students.
- Develop and manage strategic partnerships with healthcare employers, alumni, and industry organizations to strengthen Carey's visibility and reputation as a source of business and healthcare talent.
- Serve as an internal subject-matter resource on commercial healthcare hiring trends, sharing insights with academic programs, faculty, and career development colleagues to inform employer outreach, programming, and student preparation.
- Design and deliver employer engagement initiatives and hiring programs tailored to commercial healthcare organizations, including employer events, information sessions, interviews, and industry-specific recruiting efforts.
- Provide coaching and career readiness support to students pursuing roles in the commercial healthcare sector, including hosting drop-in office hours, delivering workshops and presentations, providing actionable feedback, and preparing students for effective employer engagement.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Five years related experience, preferably in career services, human resources, and/or recruiting.
- Additional education may substitute for required experience, and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree in related field.
- Experience in employer relations, business development, or human resources from a recruiting perspective.
- Experience in university development, alumni relations or other related marketing and program management experience.
