The Communications Technician I is an entry-level member of our technical team responsible for assisting with cable installation, basic lowvoltage tasks, and supporting experienced technicians on project sites. This role involves handson work with structured cabling systems while following company safety and quality standards. Technicians in this role will gain experience in installation practices, labeling, cable pathways, and troubleshooting under supervision. Responsibilities: * Install work area outlets for floor, wall, and modular furniture applications, including mounting faceplates and surfacemount boxes. * Pull, route, and secure lowvoltage cabling using Jhooks, ladder racks, and approved pathways. * Assist with terminating CAT5/CAT6 jacks under the guidance of experienced technicians. * Support the installation of telecommunications closet components such as backboards, racks, and patch panels. * Perform basic cable testing tasks such as continuity testing and toneandtag with supervision. * Follow cable color codes and labeling standards accurately. * Maintain a clean and organized work environment and assist with material handling. * Complete basic documentation as required, such as timesheets and work order updates. * Adhere to all company, customer, and industry safety and quality standards. * Perform additional duties as assigned by experienced technicians or supervisors. Required Tools: Basic Hand Tools: * Regular and Phillips screwdrivers * Drywall saw * Torpedo level * Tape measure * Snips (with belt sheath) * Needlenose and channellock pliers * Hammer * Cable stripper * Flashlight * Gloves Recommended Tools (Training Provided): * Punch tool with 110/66 blades * Tone set * 6/8position crimp tool Skills & Qualifications: * Basic understanding of lowvoltage wiring and cable installation practices. * Familiarity with cabling color codes (training provided). * Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team. * Willingness to learn termination, testing, and installation techniques. * Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail. * Ability to lift and move materials, climb ladders, and work in active construction environments. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $23.00 - $24.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
