ABOUT THE JOB The ideal candidate is an innovative healthcare leader with a strong track record of developing pediatric service lines, expanding access, and building high-performing programs. Success in this role requires close collaboration with physicians, executive leadership, and cross-functional teams to foster provider partnerships, advance service line integration, and position Women's and Children's services for sustainable, long-term growth. EMPLOYEE BENEFITS Serves as a member of the management team, contributing to long-range planning, policy development, and the implementation of strategic initiatives. Participates in financial planning by preparing divisional budgets, monitoring key financial indicators, managing revenue and expenditures, and addressing budget variances. Assists in developing new services, programs, and operational concepts across clinical and support departments to meet evolving patient and organizational needs. Develops service line goals and objectives in collaboration with executive leadership and medical directors to guide resource allocation, future growth, and service line sustainability. Plans and develops work procedures, clinical service policies, and personnel policies in compliance with MU Health Care system standards and regulations. Oversees personnel operations, including hiring, scheduling, onboarding, training, evaluating, promoting, and counseling both professional and non-professional staff. Directs the coordination and maintenance of staffing schedules to ensure continuity of care and appropriate coverage across clinical operations. Plans and directs department-level performance improvement projects to support patient outcomes, operational efficiency, and service excellence. Collaborates and communicates regularly with physicians, academic partners, and departmental leaders to support performance improvement, research efforts, and interdisciplinary initiatives. Partners with university-affiliated physician groups and external agencies to develop service line strategies and enhance system-wide integration. Establishes effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory, financial, academic, and professional organizations. Leads a culture of safety through proactive risk mitigation and continuous quality improvement, taking measures to evaluate regulatory readiness routinely. Monitors and analyzes safety and performance metrics to identify trends and implement corrective actions for staff and/or patients as appropriate. Oversees the development, coordination, and maintenance of daily staffing schedules to ensure the appropriate level of coverage and continuity of care across units. Directs the implementation and oversight of MU Health Care time and attendance policies and practices. May complete unit/department specific duties and expectations as outlined in department documents. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Guides large, cross-functional teams in a matrixed environment through strategic initiatives and daily operations-driving change through influence and collaboration-to support organizational growth, process improvement, and service optimization while fostering engagement and accountability. Oversees complex budgets and ensures regulatory readiness, driving quality, efficiency, and sustainable outcomes through cross-sector initiatives. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in healthcare administration or service line management. Licensed by the Missouri state regulatory board relevant to clinical background, if applicable, or registered healthcare professional. Experience in Women's and Children's service line management.
