Primary function of a Project Manager for Heavy Civil Construction:

Provide overall management direction for two or more projects involving bridge/heavy highway, dam, tunnel, marine and/or railroad construction and develop new business opportunities relative to a particular Client, group of Clients or geographical area.

Duties:



  • Plan, organize and staff key field positions through Division Operations Manager and/or General Superintendent
  • Establish project objectives, policies, procedures and performance standards within boundaries of corporate policy
  • Initiate and maintain liaison with client, subcontractors and vendors, to facilitate construction activities
  • Monitor/control construction through administrative direction of on-site Superintendent to ensure project is built on schedule and within budge
  • Investigate potentially serious situations and implement corrective measures
  • Lead regular planning meetings with Superintendent and Also participate in regular meetings with owner, subcontractors and vendors.
  • Manage financial aspects of contracts (fee payment, rental equipment, income/expenses, ) to protect company's interest and simultaneously maintain good relationship with Client
  • Assume additional responsibilities as directed by Division Operations Manager


Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience:



  • 4-year engineering degree or equivalent, plus extensive experience/knowledge of construction, design, finance and management required
  • Must have 7+ years of progressive experience in civil construction management
  • Must be able to apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize employee performance
  • Thorough understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, standards, and their impact on project activities vital
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills essential
  • Must have a valid driver's license and meet Crowder standards for Driver's Authorization


Essential Functions:



  • Asset Management
  • Manage financial aspects of contracts including but not limited to fee payment, rental equipment, income/expenses to protect the company's interest while simultaneously maintaining good relationships with Clients
  • Prepare and maintain accurate forecasting at all times
  • Manage the procurement process including labor, equipment, materials, and subcontracts
  • Provide estimating with actual cost information in order to enhance and increase the accuracy of future bids
