Strong leader with a foundation in recovery and clinical practices needed to lead a team of Peer Recovery Specialists in the Peer Outreach Response (PORT) team. This team focuses on delivering services to individuals who have experienced overdose or other substance use emergency. Develops and maintains close partnerships with other partners and services including detoxification, residential treatment, recovery and treatment programs, courts, detention center, emergency departments, Fire & Rescue, Police, and others. Disseminates program information as needed and provides education about programs to the community or other partners.
Under general professional and administrative supervision, plans, assigns, reviews, and manages the work and day-to-day activities of a team of peer recovery specialists, who deploy throughout the CSB service area, delivering individual peer recovery coaching. Ensures peer recovery services are delivered with fidelity to the wellness and recovery model, and relevant federal, state, county, CSB, division, and program policies and procedures. Reviews service documentation and ensure administration of data collection tools. Provides direct services as needed. Monitors performance measures, documentation, and quality of work at the individual staff and program levels. Provides coaching and training. Works with other division leadership to identify and acts on staff and program performance concerns. Responsible for coordination of services to ensure adequate coverage. May oversee the provision of Medicaid billable services. PORT program recovery services include outreach, engagement and resource navigation. They focus on building recovery capital, making positive recovery choices, and reducing recurrence of overdose and other negative outcomes.
This leader should be grounded in principles peer support of substance use recovery and have a solid understanding of multiple pathways to recovery. Relevant clinical skills are needed including assessing risk and safety. The PORT supervisor also provides clinical consultation to all Recovery Services Division programs.

Employment Standards

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from an accredited college with at least a master's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or nursing plus three years of clinical experience or a doctoral degree in psychology, social, counseling or nursing plus one year of clinical experience.
Must be eligible to be licensed to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia in one of the following: Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Professional Counselor, Clinical Psychologist, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed Substance Abuse Treatment Practitioner or Licensed Nurse Practitioner (LNP).
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED: Valid driver's license with fewer than six demerit points (or equivalent in another state) must be maintained throughout employment with Community Services Board.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check, a Child Protective Services Registry check, driver's record check, and sanction screening to the satisfaction of the employer. A TB screening upon hire and annually thereafter. Requires a National Provider Identifier.
- Additional Work Schedule Requirements: Evening and/or weekend work may be required
- This position is emergency/essential services personnel. (Required to report for duty during inclement weather and/or other emergencies).
- Licensed providers may not "opt out" of being a Medicare provider.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Certification as a Peer Recovery Specialist
- 2+ years' experience working in close collaboration with peer recovery specialists
- 2+ years' experience supervising peer recovery specialists
- 2+ years' experience delivering services in the community (non-office setting)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to operate keyboard driven equipment and lift up to 15 lbs. Ability to drive a county vehicle and transport self and others (using county vehicle) to sites throughout the area. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
SELECTION PROCEDURE:
Panel Interview and may include a practical exercise.
