Overview
UW Credit Union is seeking a talented professional to join our growing Commercial Lending team to manage and expand a commercial loan portfolio. The Senior Commercial Loan Officer acquires lending and deposit relationships connected to multifamily (over 5 units) and 1-4-unit rental properties. The Senior Commercial Loan Officer identifies and builds relationships to establish a continuous pool of new members and lending opportunities. They must possess and demonstrate strong financial analysis and underwriting competency when sourcing and reviewing lending opportunities to balance credit risk with loan pricing. We are specifically looking for a Loan Officer that has at least four (4) years of experience managing a portfolio of Commercial Real Estate loans while also consistently sourcing new loan & deposit relationships, as well as prior experience as a Credit Analyst. This person will immediately inherit a sizable loan portfolio and can look forward to a robust Incentive plan. In addition to bringing in new relationships and members to the credit union, they are expected to provide superior member service to existing and prospective relationships, and to act as a trusted advisor to members as it relates to financing and strategy for the member's overall real estate portfolio. This includes collecting member and guarantor financial information in a timely manner to ensure underwriting for new loans can be quickly and efficiently completed and annual/periodic reviews are completed as scheduled for existing members. Responsibilities
Originate new IPL loans, while also acquiring deposits and other services
- Solicits new lending opportunities, and the accompanying deposits, connected to multifamily (5+ unit) and 1-4 unit rental properties. Will benefit from internal and branch referrals as well as new opportunities from a to be inherited loan portfolio
- Proficient in analyzing and interpreting financial statements of the subject property, together with guarantor financial information, to propose UWCU compliant loan Able to quantify the connected credit risks and propose mitigating reasons or provisions.
- Collaborate with Loan Administrators in the collection of financial statements for borrowers and
- Strong analytical and people skills to negotiate favorable loan terms and pricing with borrowers that align with the credit risks prior to advancing into underwriting with the Credit Analysts.
- Perform site visits for new
- Provide excellent communication with borrowers and members, both verbally and written, to collect financial documents and obtain answers to any underwriting questions that arise.
- Take ownership of the underwriting process, and work jointly with Credit Analysts to prepare loan presentations within targeted completion Advance loan presentations through the approval process.
- Oversee loans getting processed from approval to closing, including: collection of any misc. information or documents needed, review of loan documents prior to closing, and coordinating the opening of any deposit accounts.
- Expected to have overall ownership and responsibility for each loan relationship assigned to them, along with ensuring initially quoted loan terms flow throw the underwriting process and are accurately presented within the executed loan documents.
- When needed, jointly work with Credit Analysts to prepare Watch List memos for loans risk rated 5 or higher.
- Meet deadlines throughout the loan prospecting through closing
Portfolio Management/Member Service - Existing Loans & Relationships
- Assist lending staff in performing property specific research, pre-qualification assessment, completing prelim financial spreads and initial analysis of financial condition within framework of IPL loan policy.
- Expected to act as the primary point of contact for all client needs, inquiries, or Will bring in others within UWCU, as needed, to provide answers or resolve issues.

- Perform research on real estate metrics and data within the commercial real estate
- Work closely with Loan Administrators in the collection and verification of documents provided associated with ticklers and the Annual Review process.
- Together with Credit Analysts, prepare Annual Review loan presentations within required
- Demonstrate excellent customer service skills when interacting with members and internal
- Maintain consistent dialogue and interactions with all clients they are assigned to ensure relationship with UWCU remains strong.
Other Duties/Internal Support
- Interact with Department manager, Loan Operations Manager, and other IPL staff to assist with special projects as needed.
- Help the Loan Operations Manager and Loan Admins prepare for internal or external audits and
- Interact with other departments internally to build relationships and help increase understanding of IPL loans and the department.
- Review referrals from other UWCU departments in a timely manner, as well as respond to external loan inquiries, or requests for departmental information.
Development & Training
- Employee development and growth through internal and external learning of sales, credit/ underwriting or compliance topics and trainings. May be asked to complete various sales prospecting or commercial underwriting training modules or certification courses.
- Maintain understanding and competency of IPL Loan Policy and other industry best
- Occasionally attend training sessions or informational sessions for themselves or on behalf of the credit union.

Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Business management or related field required.
- 6+ years direct experience as a Commercial Loan Officer required.
- Credit Analyst experience required. Completion of a formal credit training program preferred.
