EHRA,
SHRA and temporary employees and supports the human resources needs for faculty at Elizabeth City State University. | Description of Work |
The
Classification and Compensation Consultant serves as a subject-matter expert and strategic partner responsible for the comprehensive administration, analysis, and implementation of classification and compensation practices for
SHRA,
EPS/
EHRA, and faculty positions at Elizabeth City State University. This role collaborates closely with University leadership and management to ensure position structures, job descriptions, compensation decisions (i.e. salary adjustments, supplemental pay, etc.), and
FLSA designations are accurate, equitable, compliant, and aligned with
UNC System regulations, institutional priorities, and labor market conditions.
The consultant leads and supports classification reviews, desk audits, position evaluations, and organizational analyses; provides authoritative guidance on compensation and exemption status determinations; and ensures consistent application of policies that promote internal equity, fiscal responsibility, and workforce effectiveness. Through data-driven analysis and consultative support, the role advances the University's goals of attracting, retaining, and developing a high-performing workforce while maintaining compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and system-wide standards.
This position is organizationally aligned to report to the Interim Chief Human Resources Officer. |
| Competencies/Knowledge Skills, and Abilities Required in this Position |
* Experience in job analysis, compensation principles, job design, and organizational structure in a higher education setting or environment.
* Proficient in using Excel for data analysis, reporting, and insights.
* Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex ideas clearly and build consensus. A solid foundation in HR principles, including job classification and compensation. Experience managing projects and balancing multiple tasks with deadlines. |
| Minimum Training and Experience |
Graduation from a four-year college or university and two years of progressively responsible experience analyzing, interpreting, applying, communicating and promoting HR best practices in the context of organizational goals and objectives; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Degrees must be from appropriately accredited institutions. |
