The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

The Technician B will catalog all incoming biospecimen samples, process all of the samples into buffy coat, plasma, saliva, serum, and urine aliquots and store them in the -80 freezers. The position will also assist with logging and delivering biospecimens from the collections points across the Medical Center campus. The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining laboratory supplies, diligent record keeping, preparing solutions and performing other related duties necessary to the functioning of the Biobank. Other duties as assigned.

  • Manual handling of samples-20%
  • Discarding samples-10%
  • Records keeping-10%
  • Picking up samples-5%
  • Other duties as assigned -5%


Minimum Qualifications




  • Requires a bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, physics or related science or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.




Preferred Qualifications




  • Experience handling blood specimens.



  • Experience with automated liquid handling systems




Other Requirements




  • The candidate selected for this position is required to undergo a drug screening test prior to a final offer of employment being made.



  • The desired candidate must be detail oriented; possess excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills. Must be able to multi-task, work independently as well as part of a team, and work well under pressure.
