Tax Analyst II - Sales Tax

POSITION SUMMARYThe Tax Analyst II is responsible for supporting the company's tax compliance, planning, and reporting activities. This role involves preparing tax returns, conducting tax research, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of tax laws and regulations, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Prepare and timely file accurate moderate state and local tax returns, payments & related documents and respond to related notices & audits, as needed.
  • Prepare accurate tax reconciliations; investigate reconciling differences, escalate issues as needed, and assist with clearing open items.
  • Conduct tax research and analysis to support business opportunities.
  • Monitor changes in tax legislation and assess their impact on the company.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to gather necessary information for tax filings and audits.
  • Assist in responding to tax notices and inquiries from tax authorities.
  • Maintain accurate and organized tax records and documentation.
  • Support the tax manager in various tax projects and initiatives.
  • Independently uses multiple tax systems to support assigned tax processes. Supports system testing, updates, and documentation while identifying opportunities for process or technology improvements.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 2-4 years of related experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics or commensurate experience

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other financial software.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Solid working tax knowledge to independently complete standard compliance and provision tasks and apply established rules to routine fact patterns

  • Consistently applies high ethical standards and sound judgment; proactively identifies and escalates risks and ensures accuracy and transparency in work.

  • Ability to set priorities and plan ahead for multiple concurrent assignments while responding effectively to changing demands from multiple sources and communicating impacts early.
