Senior Analyst/Research Specialist

***This position requires an active (highly desired) Public Trust clearance or the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance to be considered. ***

The mission of the Air Force Medical Command Studies & Analysis Directorate (A9) is to enhance medical readiness and ensure ready medics by serving as the focal point of unbiased, consistent, reliable, reproducible, and transparent analytics.

Compensation & Benefits:

Estimated Starting Salary Range for Senior Analyst/Research Specialist: $110,000

Pay commensurate with experience.

Senior Analyst/Research Specialist Responsibilities Include:

  • Synthesize disparate facts from multiple sources and coalesce into an accurate and useful analytic product, incorporating Air Force Medical Service (AFMS) and Military Health System (MHS) strategic goals for use by Senior Leaders in both operational and strategic decision making.
  • Conduct data analytics processes to include data extraction, transformation and loading; data visualization applications/techniques; and quantitative analysis of data.
  • Evaluate, test and communicate analyses. Familiarity with monitoring functions that promote excellence and compliance. Make recommendations to include alternative solutions and/or mitigation strategies for senior leadership.
  • Apply knowledge of Health Care Organization (HCO)/MHS operational infrastructure and the functions that sustain the MHS operational infrastructure to include boundary spanning, forecasting knowledge management, accountability, continuous improvement and improving the operational infrastructure.
  • Provide accurate and timely analytical products containing well-reasoned and cogent discussion points providing leadership with substantiated options or courses of action.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.

Senior Analyst/Research Specialist Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:

  • General Individual Personnel Requirements: each Senior Analyst candidate should possess an advanced degree in a quantitative data field and five (5) years or more performing practical analysis with AFMS, MHS, VA or civilian sector healthcare data.

  • Three (3) years of experience in overseeing the preparing and briefing papers/presentations on various financial, administrative, business, and clinical matters related to overall activities and process management. Such work shall encompass, conducting information searches; scientific, medical, financial, and technical writing; editing; graphics preparation; and report layout and production.

  • Three (3) years of experience in communicating and writing complex concepts and their effects/impacts on the target environment, such that a lay audience is capable of understanding.

  • Proficiency executing statistical modeling and analysis, utilizing SQL, SAS, R, Python/Conda, and Tableau (preferred), PowerBI, QLIK, or other visualization tools. Ability to work with Azure software and similar platforms at the direction of the government.

  • Preferred candidates to have knowledge of major MHS information systems and/or data repositories to include MHS GENESIS, Pharmacy Data Transaction Service (PDTS),Theater Medical Data Store (TMDS), MEPRS/DMHRSi, Expense Assignment System Version IV (EAS IV), Aeromedical Services Information Management System (ASIMS), MHS Data Repository (MDR), MHS Information Portal (MIP), Health Analytics, Health Services Data Warehouse (HSDW), Medical Readiness Decision Support System (MRDSS) and other applicable systems as developed.

Demonstrated knowledge of healthcare business processes, having prepared briefings/papers on various financial, administrative, and business process matters. Prepared technical writing and information papers. Provided technical, administrative,

editorial and graphics support for the purpose of preparing special reports, studies

and analyses.

  • Ability to gain access to the following MHS information systems: the

Military Health System Management and Reporting Tool (M2), MIP/MDR, Health Analytics, and others as required.

  • Ability to research, analyze, and craft data to create compelling, insightful, and

effective, informed recommendations, presentations, and reports.

  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.
