Financial Controller / Finance Manager New York, NY (Midtown \| Flexible, in-office culture) There are roles that keep the lights on - and roles that quietly shape the trajectory of a firm. This is the latter. A small, disciplined investment platform focused broadly on media and entertainment is seeking a finance leader to sit at the center of its operations. The team is thoughtful, low-ego, and intellectually curious - drawn as much to ideas as to outcomes. This is an opportunity for someone who prefers substance over noise: a builder, a steady hand, and a partner to the business. The Role You will operate as the right hand to the CFO, with full visibility across both the management company and investment vehicles. This is a hands-on leadership role - equal parts oversight and execution - designed for someone who enjoys owning outcomes end-to-end. You'll serve as the connective tissue between finance, investments, and operations, with responsibility for maintaining rigor while helping the firm scale thoughtfully. What You'll Do Oversee external fund administration, ensuring precision across capital activity, reporting, and investor deliverables Own fund and management company accounting, maintaining clean, reliable financials Partner with the investment team on portfolio valuation and transaction support Lead budgeting, forecasting, and internal planning efforts Coordinate audits and workstreams with external advisors Uphold compliance standards and maintain operational discipline across the firm Contribute broadly - systems, processes, and occasional operational or HR-related initiatives What You Bring 7-10+ years of experience within private equity or venture capital environments Fluency across both fund accounting and management company accounting Experience overseeing third-party providers or reviewing others' work product Strong grounding in audit (CPA preferred, but not required) A process-oriented mindset with the ability to build and refine infrastructure Willingness to lean in - this is a small team where titles matter less than ownership The Profile This role tends to resonate with individuals who balance sharp thinking with a grounded presence.
