Pharmacy Technician

Willamette Valley Cancer Institute is looking for a Pharmacy Technician to join their phenomenal team. The pharmaceutical treatment of cancer is specialized and ever-changing field. The team at WVCI is looking for a tech to help prepare, maintain, and deliver medications for our amazing patients. Our pharmacy supports our patients' treatment journey through dispensing treatment medication as well as assisting with insurance prior authorizations and copay assistance. This allows technicians with strong retail experience to build on their skills, and participate in a range of duties.

The general pay scale for this position at WVCI is $19.00 - $38.00. The actual hiring rate is dependent on many factors, including but not limited to: prior work experience, education, job/position responsibilities, location, work performance, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with the data entry of medication orders.
  • Answering phone calls and assisting patients at the time of medication pick-up.
  • Checks all orders for completeness of information. Verifies patient information and proper physician authorization.
  • Assists in keeping accurate temperature logs.
  • Maintains proper control documentation of medications including lot numbers. Provide support with inventory control of medications. Prepares labels. Files and prepares billing.
  • Prepare and submit insurance prior authorizations.
  • Assists patient with locating and procuring copay assistance from grant foundations and manufacture programs.

Qualifications

  • High School or Equivalent
  • 1 - 3 years of experience in a pharmacy
  • Pharmacy Tech Certificate Required

Requires sitting/standing for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 lbs. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to direct contact with patients with potential for exposure to toxic substances, medicinal preparations, and chemotherapeutic agents.
