SUMMARY:
The Quality Engineering Supervisor works within a quality control team of approximately 10 to 13 team members including QualityEngineers andTechnicians responsible forsupplier quality,manufacturing quality, qualityengineering activities, and Warranty. These responsibilities are associated with current and new production product at the Columbia City manufacturing facility.

Works closely with Plant Personnel, Customer Service Personnel, Customers, Suppliers, andinteracts with peers across the entire organization and corporation to maintain product quality and drive continuous improvement. Our Supervisors have a direct impact on our safety, culture, work place organization, internal and external quality, on-time delivery, productivity and inventory.

The Quality Engineering Supervisor holds dual responsibilities, Engineering and Supervisory:

ESSENTIAL QUALITY ENGINEER DUTIES and RESPONSBILITIES:

  • Warranty Analysis- manage and execute the analysis of returned product, technical reports, warranty trends, interfacing with Operations, Engineering, Design, Customer Service, & Sales
  • Support Quality Engineers that manage and execute Production Part Approval Processes (PPAPs)
  • Provide technical support for:
  • personnel executing plant gage calibration
  • quality control training associated with gaging and new hire orientation
  • process capability analysis and improvement activities
  • technical problem solving and corrective action
  • the implementation and sustainment of lean manufacturing activities
  • the reporting of internal quality related metrics such as scrap quantities and pareto summaries
  • plant improvement initiatives related to scrap, first time right, productivity, and other metrics
  • Support compliance to our Management System and ISO certification requirements
  • Other duties may be assigned

ESSENTIAL SUPERVISOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Continually improve safety record with a proactive approach to physical safety issues and employee safety behavior. Maintain and improve housekeeping in all areas
  • Mentor Quality Technicians in areas of professional development, skillsets, and training
  • Manage & approve Quality Technician time cards, schedules, and vacation per Systems and Policy
  • Support the Quality Manager in the hiring, development, promotion, and management of Quality Technicians.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • BS degree in engineering, sciences, business or related field, preferred
  • Minimum 5 years quality assurance experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience implementing and/or maintaining ISO-9001, TS16949 or AS9100 certification
  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) desired, but not required, however must be willing to pursue
  • ASQ Certifications, preferably Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), preferred but not required
  • ISO 9001, ISO 13485, AS9100 or IATF 16949 Lead Auditor or Internal Auditor training desired

This position requires occasional travel. The employee must be able to fly or drive out of town to attend meetings with customers and suppliers or attend training. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and to stand 75% of the day. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and peripheral vision.
