TITLE: Production Control Specialist REPORTS TO: Production Control Manager PURPOSE OF POSITION: Plans, creates and schedules for product work orders to support customer delivery requirements. Schedules and coordinates flow of work within or between departments of manufacturing plant to expedite production. RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Recognizes the need to create work orders for independent and dependant customer demands using corporate information system MRP suggested order process. Creates appropriate work orders to satisfy requirements ensuring that proper quantity is produced within the system specified time frame. 2. Checks corporate information system data to ensure validity of part master information and the presence of proper engineering master and required tooling. Communicates with personnel in Engineering and/or Contracts as required to address resolution of missing elements. 3. Develops periodic production schedules for manufacturing to ensure timely processing of work orders to meet customer demands. 4. Creates exception reports and shortage lists to highlight missing required materials, details, tooling or engineering. 5. Maintains periodic metrics to track pre-production exceptions and demonstrate the performance of the pre-production process. 6. Assist Production Control Manager in reviewing and confirming new customer orders to acknowledge requested dates can be met. Schedules production schedule and work orders. Establishes priorities for specific customer orders. 7. Revises schedule according to work order specifications, established priorities and availability or open capacity of workers, part materials, machines and equipment. 8. Participates in various meetings dealing with establishment of customer priorities and management of backlog to balance customer requirements with manufacturing capability. Ensure that work orders are synchronized with customer demand at all BOM levels. 9. Develop periodic production schedules for manufacturing to ensure timely processing of work orders to meet customer demands. Oversee the creation of exception reports and shortage lists to highlight the need for required material, details, tooling or engineering. 10. Publish periodic metrics to track pre-production exceptions and demonstrate the performance of the pre-production process. 11. Maintain a safe and orderly work environment for the Pre-Production area that meets applicable 5S standards. 12. Continuously looks for ways to improve systems and processes. 13. Performs safely job duties with goal of no accidents or injuries to self or others. QUALIFICATIONS: * Must have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree (B.S or B.A.).
* Must be able to learn Vermont Composites projects, materials and procedures. * Must be detail oriented. * Must have the ability to set and modify priorities in order to meet the changing organizational and team needs. * Must be self-organized and flexible. * Must be team oriented and have a commitment to provide internal/external customer satisfaction. * Must be able to work overtime if necessary. * Must be willing to assertively resolve conflicts, personal or work-related, when such conflict hinders the performance of the organization. * Must have general knowledge concerning computers and to learn all appropriate software including manufacturing business software and Microsoft Office programs. * Must be able to communicate in a manner that is friendly, open and courteous. * Must have excellent communication, listening and speaking skills. * Must be able to successfully pass a drug/alcohol screening test as well as a physical examination that will assess applicable physical abilities needed to perform essential elements of the job. * Must be able to meet the physical demands inherent in this job description.
