Fiscal Assistant II (Sheriff)


Full-time, Hourly


Hourly Range: $17.87 - $26.81

Job Summary: Process bail payments & related paper work, inmate account activity, track operating fund trust checks. Civil, Traffic, Surety and Occupant refunds, Daily deposit for Traffic and Civil and Cashiers, Travel preparation guidelines and expense reporting.



Job Responsibilities:



  • Process bail payments and detail received. Forward checks and paper work to the Clerk of Courts and other jurisdictions. Research any issues related to bails and bail payments and refunds. Work with Clerk of Courts and other jurisdictions to resolve any and all issues.
  • Review and confirm deposits received by comparing bank statements, deposit slips, and internal records.
  • Process and issue refunds for Civil, Traffic, Surety, and Occupants, ensuring proper documentation and approvals.
  • Prepare and reconcile daily deposits for Civil, Cashiers and Traffic desk. Scan documents and waivers.
  • Reconcile monthly checks by verifying issued checks, clearing outstanding items, and ensuring amounts match with the bank statement.
  • Serve as backup for Jail Cashiers, assisting with payment processing, deposits, and other cashiering duties.
  • Authorization and reimbursement of business-related travel for elected officials, officers, employees of Milwaukee County, Sheriffs Office.
  • Other duties as assigned.



Required Education, License/Certification and Experience:



  • Current residency in the State of Wisconsin required
  • High School Diploma required
  • Basic knowledge of all related computer and software application, such as word processing and spreadsheet
  • Associate degree or higher in Accounting, Business, Finance or closely related field preferred
  • Previous work experience in Accounting, Business, Finance or closely related experience required



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Generally structured work of a relatively routine nature involving a choice of actions within limits of standard policy and procedures. Contact with peers and others at a routine level, primarily involving basic explanation of information, (these contacts may be within or outside department or division) and gathering of information. Frequent external contact with a diverse population, answering queries and/or asking for assistance. Read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, reports, memos, and short correspondence. Proficiency in related computer and software applications and general use of office machines, copying, faxing and other work as required.
