| Job Summary |
Reporting to the Assistant Vice President in the
Office of Institutional Success and Decision Support (OISDS), the
Assistant Director collaborates closely with
OISDS team members and campus-wide stakeholders to provide access to institutional data in formats that support effective decision-making. This role oversees the design, development, and deployment of university analytics solutions that transform complex data into actionable insights.
Key responsibilities include supervising a Business Analyst; serving as a bridge between technical teams and institutional stakeholders to advance data-informed strategies; leading and contributing to the development of interactive dashboards and analytics tools (e.g., Power BI); managing a portfolio of highly visible and mission-critical data products; ensuring data quality and integrity; and supporting
OISDS data literacy initiatives.
A successful candidate partners with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and translate them into effective business intelligence and decision-support solutions. In addition, the Assistant Director contributes to broader strategic priorities, including the development of a decision-support hub and collaboration on initiatives led by the University Initiatives team in support of the Vice President for Strategic Initiatives and Chief of Staff.

| Minimum Education and Experience |
-Bachelor's degree in related field.

- Five or more years of relevant professional experience in institutional research, data analytics, or data visualization, preferably within a higher education setting.
- Advanced degree in statistics, data science, data analytics, business analytics, or a related field.
- Experience developing and maintaining Microsoft SharePoint sites.
- Experience with additional data visualization tools, such as Tableau.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
- Proficiency in data visualization techniques and tools, including Power BI.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and technologies, including SQL, data modeling, and data warehouses.
- Experience with semantic layer design and dimensional data modeling techniques.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
- Experience leveraging data visualizations to communicate clear, compelling, and impactful insights that support datainformed decisionmaking.
- Ability to communicate complex technical information effectively to nontechnical audiences.
- Project management and coordination experience.

| Essential Duties and Responsibilities |
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead the unit's new and evolving business intelligence team situated in OISDS to develop data visualizations and a suite of decision support tools for the university community and external audiences.
- Develop and maintain data visualizations tools (e.g., dashboards, reports) in collaboration with the business intelligence analyst and OISDS team.
- Collaborate with the OISDS Data Warehouse Team on the development and updates to data modeling and engineering that drives data visualizations.
- Supervise, train, and develop the Business Intelligence Analyst (Data Visualization).
- Manage multiple projects among direct reports and other teams in OISDS to ensure timely completion of data visualization tools.
- Ensure the continuous review and improvement of internal business processes, style guidelines, and standard operating procedures related to OISDS data visualization products.
- Conduct regular outreach to campus users to identify data visualization needs, build relationships, and promote data visualization support offered by OISDS to ensure that decision support tools available align with the campus' needs.
- Coordinate data literacy efforts (e.g., presentations, trainings, videos, outreach) with other OISDS colleagues to promote decision support tools available for internal and external audiences and collaborate with the Assistant Vice President on the management of the Data Literacy Fellows Program.
- Maintain a working knowledge of campus data sources, data security protocols, and data governance issues related to the team.
- Maintain a working knowledge of data visualization and storytelling best practices in higher education.
- Perform miscellaneous job duties as assigned.

Hybrid/Flex Remote Work Options
Hybrid/flex remote work options are available. The employee is expected to have a regular weekly presence in the office. Must be located within the
DFW Area and have the ability to be on campus with 24 hours of notice. A UT Dallas Remote Work Agreement will be required within 14 days after approval.
