Position Summary
The Storeroom Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily storeroom, receiving, and inventory control operations in a fast-paced airline catering environment. This role ensures accurate inventory, food safety compliance, secure storage, timely material flow, and effective supervision of storeroom personnel in accordance with Flying Food Group standards, FAA/TSA regulations, and customer specifications. Key Responsibilities
Storeroom & Inventory Management
  • Plan, organize, and maintain storeroom layout to optimize space utilization, product rotation (FIFO/FEFO), inventory turnover, weight, and accessibility.
  • Monitor inventory levels to ensure adequate stock availability while minimizing excess, slow-moving, obsolete, or expired inventory.
  • Analyze inventory variances and research discrepancies between physical counts and system records; implement corrective actions.
  • Schedule, supervise, and participate in daily, cycle, and full physical inventories as required.
  • Review receiving, issuing, and transfer documentation for accuracy, compliance, and traceability.
Receiving & Security
  • Ensure proper receiving procedures are followed, including temperature checks, seal verification, documentation, and quality inspection.
  • Maintain strict control of secure areas in compliance with TSA, airport security, and Flying Food Group protocols.
  • Monitor access to storeroom areas and ensure materials are safeguarded at all times.
Food Safety & Compliance
  • Enforce HACCP, FDA, USDA, and company food safety standards related to storage, handling, labeling, and rotation.
  • Ensure compliance with allergen controls, expiration dating, and cold chain integrity.
  • Support internal audits, airline audits, and regulatory inspections by maintaining accurate records and corrective actions.
Supervision & Leadership
  • Assign work duties, set priorities, and manage workflow to meet operational demands.
  • Provide clear written and verbal instructions to storeroom team members.
  • Train, coach, and evaluate employees on proper procedures, safety practices, and performance expectations.
  • Monitor employee performance, attendance, and adherence to company policies.
  • Promote a safe, organized, and professional work environment.
Process Improvement & Administration
  • Review and standardize storeroom procedures to improve efficiency, accuracy, and productivity.
  • Collaborate with Purchasing, Production, QA, and Management to resolve inventory or material flow issues.
  • Utilize inventory management systems and reports to track usage, variances, and trends.
  • Prepare routine reports related to inventory accuracy, shortages, damages, and operational performance.

Education & Experience
  • Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum 1-3 years of storeroom, warehouse, or inventory supervision experience, preferably in food manufacturing, airline catering, or hospitality
  • Supervisory experience required


Knowledge & Skills
  • Strong understanding of inventory control principles and warehouse operations
  • Working knowledge of food safety (HACCP) and regulated environments
  • Ability to work in refrigerated/freezer environments as needed
  • Forklift or pallet jack operation experience preferred
Language Skills
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply safety rules, SOPs, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write basic reports and maintain accurate documentation
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees, management, and other departments
Mathematical Skills
  • Ability to calculate quantities, percentages, variances, and measurements
  • Ability to analyze inventory data and usage trends
Computer Skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Experience with inventory control or ERP systems preferred
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance
  • Ability to work in cold, freezer, or production environments
