As a Human Resources Specialist, you will play an integral role here at Penumbra providing human resources support, oversight, and management of our internal programs for leave of absences and accommodations. You would manage these activities from beginning to end working closely with HR Point of Contacts to ensure alignment between managers, employees, and our programs. You would also serve as the point of contact for our internal customers with vendors for leaves of absences and accommodations.
What You'll Work On
* Develop, improve, and maintain sound HR leave processes, ensuring appropriate approval levels are obtained and timely processing.
* Explain applicable leave processes, pay and benefits to employees and management.
* Manage appropriate documentation and generate related correspondence as required for leaves and work restrictions /accommodations.
* Meet with HR, managers, and supervisors to evaluate and discuss concerns.
* Coordinate leaves and work restrictions with HR and employees. Seek clarification for work restrictions and evaluate requirements with managers of return-to-work restrictions and process.
* Administer, track, and report out leaves of absence to include medical disability, FMLA/CFRA, PDL, USERRA, personal, accommodations etc.
* Escalate issues and concerns when necessary.
* Update and maintain employee statuses in HRIS database.
What You Contribute
* A Bachelor's degree with 1+ year of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
* Entry-level knowledge of HR regulations
* Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication
* Conflict resolution and coaching skills preferred
* Ability to use sound judgment, discretion, and diplomacy in dealing with highly confidential issues
* Excellent organizational skills with ability to prioritize assignments while handling various projects simultaneously
* Ability to work independently, consistently follow-up with employees on commitments and meet deadlines
* Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
* Ability to work effectively in a team environment
* Ensure a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
* Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Teams, and Outlook
* Previous HRIS experience; manufacturing or medical device industry experience preferred
Working Conditions
General office environment. Ability to work on site. May have business travel up 25%. Potential exposure to blood-borne pathogens. Requires some lifting and moving of up to 10 pounds. Must be able to move between buildings and floors. Must be able to remain stationary and use a computer or other standard office equipment, such as a printer or copy machine, for an extensive period of time each day. Must be able to read, prepare emails, and produce documents and spreadsheets. Must be able to move within the office and access file cabinets or supplies, as needed. Must be able to communicate and exchange accurate information with employees at all levels on a daily basis.
Annual Base Salary Range: $75,000 - $105,000 / year

Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies, and work location.
