What Your Job Will Be Like

We are seeking a dedicated and energetic individual to join our Facilities Management team as a Facilities Architect Engineer (Job title: Facilities Architect). This role involves a variety of senior-level responsibilities in a dynamic National Laboratory environment. The ideal candidate will be adaptable, service-oriented, and skilled in problem-solving across diverse situations.

On any given day, you may be called on to:
  • Assess capabilities and condition of existing building envelope, equipment, systems, and site infrastructure, and make recommendations for improvement to Management
  • Perform investigative analyses to determine causes and origins of building envelopes and architectural system failures
  • Inspect construction progress at the jobsites for compliance with design requirements, codes, customer needs, and site standards
  • Perform architectural design for building and site infrastructure, and/or oversee design by others, and integrate designs to ensure safe, reliable, efficient operations to meet customer requirements, relevant building codes, environmental regulations, safety regulations, and corporate standards
  • Manage and interface with external contracted resources for the completion of design and construction work in compliance with site design and construction standards
  • Develop and/or contribute to the development of project plans, schedules, and project cost estimates
  • Review plans for constructability and completeness as well as improve cost effectiveness and customer satisfaction
  • Summarize completed construction and planning efforts through project close out processes to maintain site standards and documentation

Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite in Livermore, CA.

Salary Range

$121,900 - $237,800

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

Qualifications We Require

  • Bachelor's degree in architecture, architectural engineering, or other related field, with eight years of directly relevant experience in facilities planning, design, construction, execution, or operations
  • Experience performing architectural design for the modification of existing structures and/or development of new architectural systems and structures
  • Knowledge of California or International Building Codes
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance
Qualifications We Desire

  • Master's degree in architecture, architectural engineering, or similar degree field
  • In-depth knowledge of California Building Codes, OSHA, Life Safety Code, Americans with Disabilities Act, and the Architectural Barriers Act
  • Knowledge and experience in the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Certification System
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification and/or demonstrated project management experience.
  • Experience with Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and/or Building Information Modeling (BIM)
  • Experience utilizing AutoCAD or similar drafting software
