Role: Content Writer / Copywriter - Ad Hoc Contract (remote) We are partnering with a client to place a contract Copywriter on their in-house creative flex team. This is an ad hoc, on-call engagement - work is assigned as project needs arise and hours will vary week to week. This person will collaborate closely with designers, art directors, digital partners, and internal business units to deliver polished, accessible content that supports enterprise-level initiatives and reinforces a consistent, trusted brand voice. Copywriting & Storytelling
Write original, on-brand copy across channels including web, email, social media, video scripts, print, presentations, and campaigns
Translate briefs and messaging frameworks into clear, compelling narratives that resonate with diverse audiences
Apply brand voice, plain-language principles, and audience-first storytelling across all work
Collaboration & Creative Problem-Solving
Partner with designers, art directors, and business unit stakeholders to bring campaigns and content initiatives to life
Contribute ideas and concepts during the development phase of campaigns and projects
Navigate complexity and regulatory or compliance requirements while maintaining clarity and warmth in tone
Editing & Quality
Edit and proofread content to ensure accuracy, consistency, accessibility, and adherence to AP style and brand guidelines
Apply plain-language best practices, targeting approximately an 8th-grade reading level where appropriate
Steward brand integrity through thoughtful language choices and close attention to detail
Scope of Work May Include
Email copy and templates (writing and editing - no HTML build required)
Website and public-facing digital content (landing pages, .com content refreshes)
Print and digital collateral (flyers, brochures, posters, guides, sticker copy, signature blocks)
Proofreading and copyediting, including review of compliance-approved content
Brand voice and clarity consultation for business unit-owned content, including light rewrite guidance
Social media copy (organic posts and campaign-tied social assets)
Campaign support materials (event/booth assets, promotional materials, co-branded or partner creative assets)
Requirements
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel) is required - all work is completed within a Microsoft environment
Candidates must have their own licensed access to Microsoft Office Suite - client will not provide software access for this engagement
Comfortable working in an ad hoc capacity with variable hours based on incoming project volume
Ability to turn around clean, polished copy on a project-by-project basis with minimal ramp time
The pay for this W-2 position ranges from $50-$55 per hour. This position may be eligible for PTO, health and dental insurance, and/or 401(k) benefits upon meeting certain length of service and hours requirements.
