Job Details

Christiana Hospital is seeking an Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) for the 3D Transitional Medical Care Unit (TMU). This role supports the Nurse Manager in providing overall administrative leadership for nursing practice and ensuring the delivery of highquality, costeffective care to all patients and families served by the unit.

The Assistant Nurse Manager shares 24hour responsibility and accountability with the Nurse Manager for all operational aspects of the unit and plays a key role in staff development, quality outcomes, and daily clinical operations.

The 3D Transitional Medical Unit (TMU) is a Progressive Care Unit caring for patients with a wide range of complex medical conditions, including but not limited to:

  • Ventilatordependent respiratory failure
  • COPD
  • Pulmonary hypertension
  • Acute renal failure
  • GI bleed
  • Diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA)
  • Sepsis

TMU nurses are highly skilled in caring for complex patients and procedures, including:

  • Ventilator management
  • Tracheostomy care
  • Suctioning
  • Advanced wound care

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Assist the Nurse Manager in the overall administrative direction of nursing practice and the delivery of highquality, efficient patient care
  • Share 24hour responsibility and accountability for daily operational activities
  • Directly supervise nursing and technical staff, including:
    • Assessing staff competency and proficiency
    • Overseeing daily staffing and scheduling
    • Evaluating performance and providing coaching and counseling as needed
  • Participate in hiring, promotions, salary adjustments, and termination decisions
  • Serve as a visible and transparent role model, demonstrating professional behaviors that support staff development and the strategic goals of Christiana Care Health System
  • Identify and implement strategies to enhance staff knowledge, professionalism, and engagement
  • Direct, mentor, and support staff at all levels
  • Identify potential future leaders and actively engage in succession planning
  • Analyze administrative and operational processes and implement improvements that support unit and systemwide goals

Education & Licensure

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nursing required
  • Master's degree required within three (3) years
  • Current RN license required

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of appropriate clinical and leadership experience
  • Progressive Care or Intensive Care experience preferred

Certifications

  • BLS required
  • ACLS preferred
  • Current professional certification required
Schedule
  • Fulltime position
  • Flexibility to work day, evening, and night shifts
  • Weekend and holiday requirements per departmental guidelines
Hourly Pay Range: $52.97 - $84.75 This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare's good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
