We are seeking an FPGA Digital Signal Processing Engineer to help us build innovative technology applications for the next generation of electronic warfare (EW) systems. Your work will contribute to ensuring the US and its allies dominate the RF spectrum.

You'll be joining our hardworking team of system engineers, algorithm developers, FPGA and embedded software engineers, and advanced EW technology enthusiasts who enjoy working together to develop creative solutions for complex challenges and bringing real solutions from concept to prototyping.

As an FPGA DSP Engineer, we will trust you to ...

  • Develop firmware for real-time embedded systems.
  • Implement digital signal processing (DSP) algorithms for various types of communication, data link, radar, and jamming signals.
  • Integrate embedded systems with EW payloads.
  • Apply Machine Learning (ML)/Artificial Intelligence (AI) algorithms for EW applications.
  • Participate in field testing and demonstration of these products.

Qualifications

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you ...

  • Have a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or another related technical discipline.
  • Have at least ten years of relevant experience with VHDL or Verilog, FPGA simulation, and MATLAB.
  • Have relevant experience working with embedded systems and embedded programming.
  • Are able to obtain an Interim Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain a Secret level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

You 'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you ...

  • Have a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
  • Have at least fifteen years of relevant experience working with embedded systems and embedded programming.
  • Have experience implementing DSP algorithms in HDL, HLS, and/or System Generator.
  • Programming experience in C/C++ or Python.
  • Are experienced with high-speed FPGA design.
  • Are experienced with digital signal processing (DSP) algorithms.
  • RADAR, electronic warfare, or radio frequency experience.
  • Hold an active DoD Secret level clearance.

The referenced pay range is based on JHU APL's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level with consideration for internal parity. For salaried employees scheduled to work less than 40 hours per week, annual salary will be prorated based on the number of hours worked. APL may offer bonuses or other forms of compensation per internal policy and/or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be provided in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, locality allowance or discretionary payments for exceptional performance. APL provides eligible staff with a comprehensive benefits package including retirement plans, paid time off, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, flexible spending accounts, education assistance, and training and development.
