Job Summary:


Quality Assurance Record Reviewer I is responsible for managing plant records and critical to quality documents. This position performs verification and record review activities that confirm that all quality and efficiency standards are being met. Communication, coaching, and escalation when deficiencies are identified are required. A driver of Quality, Safety, and Efficiency within the plant.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Responsible for review of production and quality records containing critical to quality results from Batching, Sanitation, Processing, Filling, Downline, other as applicable.
  • Notification and escalation of non-compliant results and critical documentation non-conformances.
  • Coaching and training activities for clerical error correction and documentation.
  • Record upload/scanning to customer as required; including email communication with customer.
  • Tracking and reporting of record compliance data KPI's
  • Data entry of critical to quality attribute results
  • Provide technical support in product recalls / withdrawals
  • Assists lab techs in situations of need.
  • Assists obtaining carton resampling as applicable.



Key Accountabilities:


Safety



  • Follows all plant safety rules
  • Reports all accidents to the production supervisor
  • Serves an active role in the plant safety program by attending safety meetings, participating in monthly safety inspections and reporting any potential safety hazards to the safety committee or Production Supervisor.



Quality



  • Adheres to all Quality Assurance System guidelines
  • Compliance to all record corrective action documentation.
  • Follows SOP's to do required tests necessary for checking products prior to processing, after processing, and prior to ship outs
  • Responsible for compliance with the HACCP program
  • Must adhere to and follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's)
  • Responsible for accurate documentation



Housekeeping



  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Cooperates with other shifts and the management team in housekeeping endeavors



Communications



  • As a member of the Quality team, ensures that effective shift communication and teamwork with the other operators occurs each scheduled shift
  • Maintains effective communication with members of the support group



Teamwork and Training



  • Promotes and contributes to the development of teamwork among production team members
  • Assist in coaching and training employees as requested by the management team
  • Better Process School - as required by plant Quality Manager

Personal Development


Knowledge and understanding of food safety / HACCP, GMP's, Allergen Controls, Sanitary design/controls, pest control, basic food regulations, specifications, and basic food technology.

Qualifications:

Education:


High school diploma or equivalent required. College degree or certification preferred.



Experience:


Candidate must possess a strong working knowledge of aseptic systems, processes and practices. Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing practices is beneficial. Outstanding verbal, written, multi-tasking and presentation skills. Bilingual in Spanish is beneficial. Must have a working knowledge of MS Word and MS PowerPoint software,and be proficient with MS Excel software.



Knowledge and Skills:


Working knowledge of business, computer skills and math. The candidate must be able to work effectively in a team-based environment, set priorities to meet deadlines, handle multiple tasks, and make decisions under pressure.



Travel Requirements:


Travel is required to various SunOpta locations and for meetings or other job-related functions.



Work Environment/Physical Demands:


Approximately; 95% of work is performed in a manufacturing/lab environment. 5% of work may involve being in an office environment.
